Good work mate it’s nice to have it really clearly demonstrated so full credit to you there. Only thing is I’m trying to remember when I set my backlash in my front diff if I tightened by carrier preload enough... hopefully I shouldn’t have to second guess myself but a tight preload in a part time 105 cruiser is definitely something you need to have. Cheers mate

Even though this is an H233, the 3rd member is completely different than the USDM H233B found in R50, D21, WD21, Xterra, etc. The one you say is scrap are the ones we have in the USA. They work fine.

@@DanielKistler I wonder if the Patrol 3rd member will drop in on of the USA nose secrions. I am using 33 spline xterra axles on my H233B in my datsun 620 pickup (sr20det). Truck doesnt weigh much and is driven on street only. If you want the real beef, you run an H260.
@DanielKistler Жыл бұрын
@@Zukuri620 that would be interesting to find out, sounds like a pretty cool pick up though. H260 are good, it’s a shame they didn’t increase the pinion shaft size.

Good video. If you don't have bearing blue or a contact paste get a cheap tub of yellow oxide (used to colour concrete) from a hardware store (bunnings) and mix it with a bit of oil to make the paste. A bit better to see than the bearing blue when checking contact patterns. Regards Mick #patroltraction

Just wondering how you would clean little rust spots off any of the parts I bought some that have been sitting outside the housing for a bit out of the weather but doing other stuff around it has left some little surface rust spot on the big gear you put bearing blue on. If you could let me know that’s be amazing!! Nice vid anyways mate very helpful thank you!

Hello from Spain, first of all thanks for your video. I have mounted the 0.5 shim, if I go straight the differential works perfect, but if I turn the shaft starts to sound a lot. It is possible the lsd is to tight?
@DanielKistler2 ай бұрын
Because there’s more pressure on the clutches with the shim it takes a lot more force to slip them, so all that’s happening is the lsd is slipping around the corner which is normal but the extra pressure is making them chatter
@leeamdias16863 ай бұрын
Hey mate do the big lsd centers from the early Gus fit into say the 2008 housings mate.
@DanielKistler3 ай бұрын
Hey mate, all h233 lsd are interchangeable, h260 are not
@CzarWilkins3 жыл бұрын
Nicee. I think mine is acting like an open one. The shim is sold or homemade? Pardon if you said in the video. My english is not good
@DanielKistler3 жыл бұрын
You can buy the shim from roadrunner OffRoad. They sell it in 2 sizes, .55mm or .7mm
@DanielKistler3 жыл бұрын
@DreadRenegade20 you need to check if it’s the small lsd or the large. But it’s all dependent on the kms of the lsd and what work it’s done. .55 is usually the go though
@DanielKistler3 жыл бұрын
@DreadRenegade20 front and rear axle splines are different and different size so unless you can change the side gears you won’t get one in the front! If arb lockers are installed correctly you won’t have an issue, they are by far the best lockers on the market. Put one in the front and keep the lsd in the rear
@DarrenBoxhall4 жыл бұрын
How much bearing preload do you put on the adjusters? On the main carrier bearings
@DanielKistler4 жыл бұрын
We just nip them up. Search a little bit for a torque spec but couldn’t find one. So yeah I’ve always just nipped them up sort of firm haha. Bit vague but just don’t crank them up.
@DarrenBoxhall4 жыл бұрын
@@DanielKistler yeah ok, I normally tighten them until the bearing race spins then a touch more. If you adjust it with the caps off, you can see when it spins showing its got 0 slop, then I go like just a touch more

Good video mate, just wondered would you ever put a rear locker in it instead of shimed LSD?
@DanielKistler4 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. Honestly probably not haha. I like the lsd and how it works. The race car has a rear locker but only because of the rear brake set up. If it was normal I would still have an lsd

Hey mate love your videos just curious as to why some tracks you don’t say the name of ??
@DanielKistler4 жыл бұрын
Brandon Surace a few reason which I’ll quickly point out but there is more. - the tracks on the video look easy, in reality they aren’t. If someone tries the attempt them and they are unprepared or don’t have the skills there is a high chance something could go wrong and then they close off the tracks and it ruins it for people who enjoy it. - increased traffic also means increased rubbish, that is annoying -instead of giving away the secrets of some of the funnest tracks in that area, I’d rather encourage people to go out and explore for themselves and see what they come across. There’s plenty that I Havnt seen so I try and do the same. Grab the map and go for a drive. Long list of other reasons but they are a couple thanks for watching. Cheers

It will be fine. Lsd must have been pretty worn out if you put that big of a shim in there and it’s not fully locked. If you went a smaller shim the lsd wouldn’t work that well

Daniel Kistler Yeah it had a bit of slop I went off the k’s of the car as well that’s y I jumped straight to the 0.9 see how I go keep you updated I was thinking maybe 0.7

Don't you have to preload the bearings after setting the backlash??
@DanielKistler4 жыл бұрын
Yes, didn’t really mention it as it has bearing preload whilst setting backlash and once it’s to spec the preload nuts are tight so it’s just a quick check before putting the keepers on.

Not 100 percent sure where to get them, but if you get a complete new set you shouldn’t need to shim it, that’s what the shim is for to put more pressure on the clutch packs as it wears out
