Just a correction at the time line of 6:41 on your suggestion when finding the right shim size, The correct method is to use the thickest shim you have 1st, the reason for this is so when you torque the 4 bolts down you have not over loaded the bearings beyond the correct setting, I Have seen many bearings fail because people start with the thinner shim rather than the thicker one. It is a very simple thing but it saves any damage to the new bearings. Nice video and a fantastic job. My comment is only here to help others who are unaware and want to give it a go at home. Keep the vids coming

Hey mate, first of all great video with a lot of torque details which was really handy !! About the outer bearing that you first torque to 190nm and then re torque to 4NM, it doesn’t seem to be enough, my tyre move when I force on it by hand ! Do you think I should re right it firm by hand or is it not advised ?

the one time I did wheel bearing to the 190nm spec thing they imploded after 50km of driving (brand new koyo japanese bearings) always set them with the tire on like you said by feel take it for a short drive and check by feel again never had a problem ever again.

REALLY GOOD TIP GUYS!! please have multiple of those bearing tools! Dosnt matter the brand because I tightened mine which was good but snapped when I went to loosen them! I thought it would be okay for the bearnings as long as I didn't drop the car on them tight but overnight it still destroyed the bearings 😢. Such a stupid tool (Another tip. If you break the tool at the pin.....drill it out with a 7.5mm drill bit and use the drill bit!) 😉👍🏼

Looking good! Quick question, no gasket or sealant on the stub axle at the 14 min mark? Also, no thread lock on the stub axle bolts, or any other mission critical hardware given the hardware is used and the spring washers might not be as effective as new?

I’m just about to do this job to my td42 gu, what exact cv grease did you use? Also do you have a video on how you took out the old races for the bearings
@SIDETRACKED11 ай бұрын
it was a penrite cv grease. With the hub assembly off and bearings out you can get a drift or punch through the middle into a small cut out section to hit the back side of the race
@thebossman80s22 күн бұрын
I have finished the job a few months ago and all seems to be well. There’s just one thing I’m a bit worried about. When I punched in the little spindle bearing I didn’t seat it flush with the face of the spindle, I hit it in further, almost all the way in! On the passenger side wheel. Will this make a difference? Will the cv shaft reach the bearing and sit in it alright?
