Patrol has a much stronger driveline. The Patrol was first to get coil springs and the Patrol is the car of choice for off road racing in Australia as its much stronger and more easily modified to race. 30 years as a mechanic repairing both cars makes me choose the nissan Patrol.

I drove both of them .. the patrol y61 with a td42 na is more torquey than LC105 with 1Hz engine .. the patrol has better front and rear axle and beefier Transmission and Transfercase than the LC (front diff seal often going bad and the gear oil mixes with the grease from the knuckle) .however the TD42 from nissan suffer overheating issues at 200k kms due to cyl 6 running hotter than the rest and cheap quality headgasket material. I feel like Land Cruiser is over Hyped by their fans and the Patrol get severely under rated . LC parts get crazy expensive while you put both vehicles they doing the same can take the same amount of abuse with just regular maintenance. LC is thirsty on gas tan the Patrol . I did a 7 hours off road with the LC i had the lower back pain the same day took me 3 days to recover . 4 months later after a hurricane i did the same trip on a patrol Y61 with td42 i did remember having back pain . All of that to say Patrol is a solid competitor. NISSAN do know how to build quality SUV.

And patrol doesn’t like front Locker i’ve seen many of them of front diff broken after installing a E Lock. That’s one of the downside😊

yh td42 water pump isnt a very good design which causes the over heating, but also the front diff is very strong, just got smaller cv joints

I have a 80 series STD trim and am very happy with it, very good off-road and also comfortable inroad. I think the patrol is great aswell and is very similar to the 80 so it is stupid to say which is better since they are both amazing

As both cars perform seemingly well, it will always comes down to dollars and cents be it on the buying price or spare parts. Therefore I chose the Patrol. I own a 1997 GQ Y60 TD42 in the picture and a 2003 GU Y61 TB45.

I used to catch wild buffaloes in the toughest terrain in Australia. Toyota Land cruiser is the only 4x4 vehicle that outlast all others by far. The others fall to bits.

By they way in off-roading y60 better than lc80. In fact, the front and rear axeles in the y60 are stronger than the lc80

I don’t think so, off-roading they are very similar in performance, the GQ axles are about similar in strength to the 80 series, the GU definitely has a stronger front axle though.

معك تحف اتمنى اقتنيها 💔🥲 كانت لدينا لاند كروزر 1993 وصلت حتى ٩٠٠ الف كيلو ثم بعد ذلك تعطل قارئ السرعة لمدة ثلاث سنوات اعتقد انها تعدت المليون كيلو وهي بحالة الوكالة لم يتم فك المحرك ولا ناقل الحركة ولا الدفرنس كانت مثالية واعتمادية 👍🏼👍🏼 لكن احترقت فجئة اثناء السير 😂😂😂

Y61 was made in 1998 and up. The 100 series was made in 1998 and up. Why do you think it's better to compare a newer car to an older car?

@@MDNTCollection Thats a fair point but nobody is buying a car because of its model year... Usually they are looking at things like: price, capability, features, ect... The 100 series doesn't have a solid front axle so its not really in the same category. You can get a y61 for a similar price as an 80 series... in some cases a y61 is half the price of an 80. The Y60 was also still a heritage car, it was still following the cues from the previous generations, while the y61 was taking cues DIRECTLY from Toyota and the 80. In fact the common person wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between an 80 and y61. At the end of the day, 80 and y61 customers are the same people, while the y60 customers are looking at old 70s or jeeps.
