Its 100% an epic rig. But 80k not including labour for the work done makes that (at a guess) a $120k car with 680,000km on the motor. It’s not even close to cheaper than a stock 79.

You're such a breath of fresh air in the middle of the KZbin 4x4 vid glut. Down to earth vids, and just good, good content. Keep showing more of the tracks you're driving, one thing I noticed with shows like 4x4 24/7, while they're fun to watch, they only show a few obstacles on a track, not what the track is actually like to drive. Like on your Fraser trips, your vids were more informative, because you showed more of track, I really liked it. Also your Dad is a legend, I had a great chat with him at the Brissy 4x4 show, we chatted about drifting, 4x4s and fishing, I was heading up to Fraser Coast after the show on Sat. I really love you guys, and wish you all the best.

Great video mate. It's a breath of fresh air to see someone so realistic. Always plenty of negativity from the keyboard warriors. You only have to see the comments when people advertise their rigs for sale. Some people have literary no idea. I'm not surprised at all over the total cost. There's a hell of a lot of work and parts gone into it. Well done and keep up the awesome work!

So, with labor and without sponsorship deals you're talking about $100k+ for the average punter. How much of that is going to be a tax write-off for your business? Congrats on the car to yourself and Demi, it's not something I would drop that much cash into but it was your dream and you've made it come true.

That’s a bloody good question mate,I mean good on him for being sponsored or being able to put whatever thru a business,the true cost is what we really want to know
@rhysbertrand890311 ай бұрын
He probably means without his own labour. 70k would be all of his receipts etc, I priced up the build as a guess based off my own experience before he dropped the price and I guessed about 70k too. He spent a lot of money on things you can do yourself, and paint. You could easily half the cost of this build. I'm doing my single cab by myself, which includes a coil conversion. Chassis - 1k, full coil kit and some upgrades - 4k, quick azz cooling, 1k, turbo and intercooler incl pipe work, 5k, interior seats, rails, sound dead, carpet, steering wheel etc 1k, sound system 1k, etc. You can do it for 20k, ignoring all the things you don't need like crazy bar work, party lights, alternator, 12v, full paint, all new seals etc.

Great vid Tyler and we appreciate the transparency. I’m doing a budget GU patrol build now and I’m finding it isn’t as popular as my other videos. At the end of the day, I’m enjoying what I’m doing and I will keep making the budget build videos because it’s something I like doing. Your trips with this rig has been a lot of fun. Tyler: I am building myself. I am building an Global Overland rig off of a pickup frame 350-550 Dodge or Ford. You call them UTE's we call them flat decks. Here are my thoughts on the most asked questions. There are two questions we all seem to get asked and these revolve around sanitation and cost. Cost is IMHO almost Impossible to deal with, because of several factors. 1) Most of us work on our rigs. What is your time worth? How much is your friends help worth? Then we have food and "beverage" costs. 2.) Define time . Time is NOT just wrench work, it involves planning and assembly of all things used. 3) The cost of your base platform.4.) Shop tools. What would it cost to purchase every tool that was used with a new one ? IE: I own a welder, but may have to purchase another unit as mine is to small. This adds 2k to my costs. How many cutting discs did you go through? Did you have these prior to the build? 5.) What did you already own? ( IE radios, sound systems, fridges, Maxtrax. To replace that costs? 6.) Items either purchased second hand, on sale, or sponsor donations, freebees. The big item is work "farmed out". [Read: I don't have the skills to build a legal roll cage, therefore this gets farmed out.] I can't see this project coming in at anything under 150k. Why, because I still need to purchase my aluminum and all the things that go with this like Sikaflex and Foamular 250 , PL Premium etc. for my "habitat" and the base vehicle unit and not including the bills not counted as of this writing, OR ANY of my time, I have spent CDN CDN/AUD $21,600. The Aluminum will set me back about $ 13k minimum. Nice build Have fun on Fraser Island, and remember to lock your hubs BEFORE leaving the barge or you may end up in a photo like the one I took of a guy bogged to the frame. OOPS.

People are salty and pathetic over the cost and that you got your build sponsored. Like as if it was totally free without any work from you. But you've spent years building this channel and investing your own money well before you were sponsored to build your name to earn the privelidge to work with sponsors and workshops for a reduced cost. Plus the advertising and promotion you bring to their businesses in a highly competitive and social media driven world is priceless. They know this and choose to work with you for that agreement. People need to get off their high horses about content creators and their sponsored builds. Yes it costs money. And no they wont sponsor every P plater in Townsville with a GQ. And if businesses like HPD and superior, which aren't run by toddlers, choose openly to run their products with you then they must see some personal value and investment in you and the channel. Good on you tyler for building a unique and very comprehensive vehicle, showcasing what can be done and creating free consistent high quality content on this platform.

realistically 80k for a fully setup rig that's ready for the absolute hardest and toughest tracks and will go for several more hundreds of thousands of kms then will need a 10k rebuild and good to go for anout 500k. well worth doing this to this level of quality over getting a brand new stock PoS off the floor that will then still need more money. well worth it in my eyes, fckn hectic build boss.

I'm doing a 2001 TD 42 at the moment and I won't be spending that much. Just new suspension 3 core radiator. Catch can rebuilt the swivel hubs.all new fluids wheels tyres catch can . Oils alone was $500 It adds up fast. But it will do what I want. Great honest vid.
@cobyfield9237 Жыл бұрын
Honestly people need to realise there's a difference between general maintenance and actually "building" it with new fancy parts. Swivel hubs are general maintenance, a cheap GQ you'd expect to have to do that. At least you know it was done fresh and not hearsay by the previous owner.
