We live in the mountains, and you really have to be ready to control the wheel because going the speed limit of 55 or greater it doesn't catch the sharp turns fast enough and will go into the next lane. It seemed to want to correct AFTER it crosses the lines but of course I couldn't assume that or wait to see if it does. Also if lines are very worn and parts missing can make it delay the turn too much... But for good roads, gentle curves it works great and the intelligent cruise control is VERY great here because in all my other cars I could never use it because so many people keep changing speeds because they don't know how to handle the curves. Now I can use it almost all the time. Another safety feature is when it is storming it cancels the assist which is a good thing because you don't need to spin out.

Great tutorial. I’ve had my 2023 Platinum AWD and I use this constantly, esp on long trips and at night. I drive from NYC - DE regularly, and it makes late night trips safer, seeing the lanes more clearly and maintaining proper speed. My husband resists using it, but I agreed, I wouldn’t want to drive a car without it.

My main question for something like this technology, which I haven't seen answered anywhere, is how does it deal with someone stopping hard in front of you. I mean, if your foot is off the break (which I assume is the point of ICC) then how is a driver meant (if at all) to stop in time? I was just recently (a few months ago) in a car accident that broke my femur in my leg and am kind of timid to start driving again.. I think something like this could go a long way to helping me with all the safety features, but still am unsure of how it would handle specific situations, such as other people doing dumb things.

Hard for me to demo for you as I would be risking my own safety however the Forward collision sensor notifies you immediately with a beep in applies the brakes pretty hard when someone slices in front of you
@cnbkyn41398 ай бұрын
It works perfectly really. It’s not over reacting while making sure you don’t crash. It even slightly slows you down when detecting potential hazard like a pedestrian too close to the road etc.

@@carsunlocked All I can add is today I was doing almost 30mph in my new to me 8 month old nissan leaf and this guy in front of me was about to turn onto a petrol station. It was obvious to me that he was going to get on to the forecourt clearly so I carried on as he slowed down with the plan to maybe move wide if needed ( you know that thing we all do from time to time but probably are not supposed to) . Let's just say that collision sensor is on all the time and it did not like what I was doing. Although I was not going to crash it became apparent the car didn't have as much faith in my abilities as I did, and it slowed right down... fast... so fast that my heart skipped a beat and my underpants changed colour. The breaking was very "resistive" if that makes sense, as in it felt like the motors were taking all the load rather than friction from the breaks. The car did not come to a complete halt, as the vehicle in front was moving and just slowing right down. I will drive more carefully in future lol.

It's not ment to be hands free. You are supposed to keep your hands on the wheel. Dont know why he claims its supposed to be hands free. You need to be able to take control if it doesn't handle a curve correctly or loses the lanes. But it's great on long rides & highway driving, as long as you keep one hand on the wheel, you're good.

I can tell you this, that when it goes around corners that are 50-55 miles an hour sometimes it will actually throw you off the road. Be careful. It almost threw me into a bridge. The other thing is that sometimes when you cross an intersection and the lovely roads lines do not match up, it causes all kinds of problems too.

What’s stupid about these systems is they want you touching the steering wheel but as long as it’s doing a good job I’m not fighting it, but inevitably, because you aren’t fighting the system tooth and nail (because it’s doing a good job) it thinks you let go. But instead of using a sensor in the steering wheel like a smart company would do, like little strips of contacts embedded in there, it starts squawking at you to hold the steering wheel. So now you have to baby sit this stupid half step system by shaking the wheel every 30 seconds or unfortunately while in a turn and make sure the system doesn’t shut down on your forcing you to park, shut down and restart to enable it again. So it harasses you by accusing of dereliction of duty at intervals just long enough that you briefly forget about the system and actually enjoy the drive. These systems are parasitic, they live off of sucking the joy out of you enjoying a system like this. They exist only to harangue, cajole and accuse you of inattention, or making a sandwich while driving, while never ever letting you forget the system is there. Terrible systems. Supercruise is one of the first I’ve enjoyed. BUT it’s not perfect since it turns off at inopportune times.
