Drove one of these for a week and got 5l/100kms. What seemed better too about e-power (my opinion) to other hybrids is that this was achieved on a 50:50 mix of open road driving to town driving. In both settings 5/100 was achieved. Other Hybrids are better in town, but less good on the open road. I’d also suggest to anyone considering this car to give it a go in “sport.” It sort of gives you the Hot Hatch feel when you want it and then you got back to eco and get your 5l/100kms if that’s what you want. It’s a great two for one buy. Good luck to all those who take the test drive, I suspect you’ll soon fall for the very impressive driving experience especially v standard hybrid.

I took a test drive. Great. I ordered it last week & will get it 8 days later. You have to learn how to drive it, changing modes Regen & above all else yourself & that's the hardest. This car & technology will get even more better. 10 years ago it was the Zoe & Leaf. Now across the industry we now have proper cars. All we need now is the infrastructure so we can all plug in at night by which time I won't be here. So I'm gonna enjoy this car in all modes!

I think the car is great, had our E-Power Tekna four months and I get mid 50mpg on average, but very dependant on driving style. Its the smoothest best drive ever without any range issues. I had two QQ 1.5d before which must be the most economic suv on the planet but am not disappointed with the economy on the E-Power. This is now discounted in the UK and the Tekna EP can be had for under 35k.

Great review. I've ordered my e-power. Having driven both petrol and diesel versions for the past 7 years with 100% reliability, I have high hopes. My one gripe about my current and last Qasqai was the awful reflections to the inside windscreen. Hopefully, that won't be an issue with the new car. I was told this issue was only with N power and Tekna. I bought a made to measure dash cover which cut down about 90% of reflection, but not something you should really need to do when spending good money on a new car.

To get the best MPG from the e-Power you really need to use the various modes available. If you just select D Mode you will be disappointed. Its comfortable to drive, it looks good. 53 mpg is achievable with a bit of thought. I regularly get over 60 mpg on longer runs.

@L S I agree. It's definitely a pleasant car to drive. Mpg varies, but I am finding 55 to 65 regularly on longer runs, but I don't drive particularly fast. On motorways, I'm in D Mode. In town, I use the e-pedal or B mode. Occasionally, on short trips, 99.9 mpg.
@pillred597411 ай бұрын
What do you mean by D and B mode? I thought there was Sport, Eco, Standard, and Personal.@@Raw-Coffee-Bean
@Raw-Coffee-Bean11 ай бұрын
@pillred5974 The car won't move unless you put it into D Mode! D is drive! Pull back on the drive selector, and you will be in D Mode. Pull back on the drive selector a 2nd time, and you will be in B mode. D Mode is the Standard drive mode. B mode gives greater regeneration braking. In B mode, if you release the accelerator pedal, the car will slow down more than it would if you were in D Mode. It is the same effect as you get in E-pedal but to a lesser extent. Try this little experiment, select Drive (D Mode), and eco. Drive up to 30mph, then lift off the accelerator pedal. Repeat the experiment in Standard, then Sport. Then select B mode and repeat the process. Once you've done that, you will experience the different levels of brake regeneration. The E-pedal gives maximum regeneration. The car won't move at all unless you engage D (drive) mode. B mode is simply a drive mode with greater regeneration. Eco, Standard, and Sport mode are variations of the drive modes that alter the throttle response and various other functions. For example, in Eco mode, the air-conditioning is restricted as is throttle response. The aim is to improve the economy. Clever use of these options improves the overall mpg. Driving in E-pedal all the time will not return good miles per gallon. To maintain forward motion in E-pedal requires constant pressure on the accelerator. D Mode plus eco will allow you to lift off the accelerator and coast without any significant loss of forward motion. Doing this will improve the mpg. Lastly, if you are on a stretch of road that has a long downhill section. You can switch from D Mode Eco to D Mode Standard. This will increase the regeneration without a significant loss of forward motion. The steeper the hill the greater the regeneration options become. The aim is to maintain forward motion without slowing down too much. By selecting the appropriate amount of regeneration. If all you want to do is get in the car and drive, then stay in D Mode and Standard all the time. However, if you want decent mpg, drive smart. I hope I have given you an explanation that helps.

Thanks for sharing this mate, info about the Qashqai e Power is scarce here in Australia - they've only just launched the petrol models, e Power to follow - but in particular thanks for sharing the fuel economy numbers of this car and your own car, that relative difference is what helps justify the extra money for hybrid, and the "on paper" fuel economy of the e Power looks reasonable, while the regular petrol looks highly optimistic 🫢 All important factors for justifying the extra cost for the e Power system 😊

Must admit I was interested to hear your thoughts on this version of the Qashqai and you're right about the price but I must admit 7l100km equates to roughly 40mpg which isn't great either for a hybrid or a Qashqai in general. To me it still wouldn't entice me from my diesel Kadjar not especially when my car gets 49-50 maybe more on a long run and even on a short run 44-47 mpg. I mean I like the technology behind it but it's not that impressive in the mpg stakes which is what it's supposed to be, granted compared to the petrol version yes but the equivalent diesel no.

I drove a Diesel car until about 7 years ago and I loved it, especially on long drives and motorways. The problem was that long drives only happened over weekends, if at all and the car was used daily for short trips eg school runs and groceries. Result? Clogged up carburettor and repair bills. My next car was a petrol car which gave a lowly mileage of 25mpg. My last car was electric and while I loved the drive and economy in city, hated stopping every 100 miles odd on a motorways to recharge. The new qashqai, which I test drove last week, offers the best of both world for me, better fuel economy, no range anxiety and suitable for city as well and motorway driving. Can’t wait to buy one as soon as the lease on my current EV ends in June.

My last car was so eager to pull away, it was a tad jerky. I'm noticing the little improvements that are so small they don't get a mention on any reviews. So my last Qq was a 69 plate (!). Now when I put the wipers on ut shows on the display which setting they are on. Simple, but helpful. The front window switch has a ridge so that you don't operate the back windows by mistake. Same for audio controls on the wheel. There are quite a few other simple refinements that have been made which I presume is a result of driver feedback. I've been disappointed with MPG so far, but driver experience is way above expectations. So, overall I'm still giving ut 10/10

Just by chance I was fitting a dash camera and routing the wire along the foot well along side the centre conceal I notest a screw missing put a screw in and no more rattle. To cut a long story short rattle could be anywhere.

Thanks for sharing this, I have been looking into this e-power thing since I heard the ad on the radio. So it is really a BS car as I expected, with minuscule battery capacity, non-plugin, and laughable fuel efficiency. Actually, I was shocked to hear about the fuel consumption of your 1.3 l Qashqai, my mother-of-all-SUVs ancient Subaru Forester does better, despite being a 2 l non-turbo automatic awd, worst of all worlds regarding efficiency.

Yeah I was expecting 5L/100kms ish. I reset the trip in an X-Trail I’m in this week and I did see 4L/100kms but it’s back to 6.8 now too.

@@NobbyOnCars Will you test towing? The only reason I see this drivetrain should exist is towing, like the diesel-electric trains.

Think it's poor economy to be fair. A diesel would still use less. I was wating for you to say 3 or 4 litres per 100. I've a diesel Passat at the moment and that uses about 7, would have thought this thing be better
@LS-ly8gl Жыл бұрын
I guess depends on the type of driving. If I was still doing a lot of motorway miles I'd get a diesel. But, now most of my journeys are local. Because of speed limits & cameras my typical drive into town is mostly 20 & 30mph limit so I'll can drive in full EV mode. But, for those off occasions I do a long journey I have good old petrol. I took an e power for a test drive. I came back with a few miles added in a short time. 👍

So barely better economy than a simple diesel, but with a lot more complexity and considerably more cost! Don't get it.

Too hard on fuel, price tag of 52 grand, having a laugh ,cant tow ,imagine putting a caravan or trailer on it ,No thanks ,stick to the 2.0 diesel 4. 9 lites per 100km on the motorway !

To me it doesn't make much sense. You first have the upfront cost. And when most people go EV to save the planet 😏 this still has a petrol engine so it's not great in it's production process or when running. At least the review was as good as ever 👍

You're asking the wrong question: should be "Do I buy this or take a punt at a full EV and get an Ariya?" (base price LESS than this) The answer to that is simple: you get the Ariya. A much better car on all fronts (bar, perhaps, boot space) that'll save you even more on fuel. As a science experiment it's interesting. As a practical alternative to EVs,... Not so much.
@NobbyOnCars Жыл бұрын
Hence the Ariya is the video that pops up at the end of this. Oh and you won’t get an Ariya anytime soon. Nissan have taken price etc off their website here due to no stock.
