Nissan screwed up their product line. Installing unreliable and unwanted CVT transmissions, switching to front wheel drive in cars like the Pathfinder which most buyers prefer rear wheel drive in. So to many buyers their product line is a turn off. All by their own making.

Because I literally wondered every time I turned the key if it would start. This was no joke, the damn car stranded me more times than i had fingers and toes. My Dad bless his heart, had mercy and lent me $4000 to buy a 1983 Nissan Sentra. It was love at first drive with that little car, I drove the 5-speed all over Southern Calif with complete reliability. In 200K miles it needed one headlight, a clutch I changed myself, plus a timing belt, preventatively. But that was all. I bought 3 more Nissans, a 1988 Pickup with 4 speed I drove to 250K, a 200SX that was the only dog in the manger that pretty much just sucked, and the last one a 1994 Sentra, equally excellent until my goofy wive totalled it(she didn't get a scratch). Switched to Toyotas after the bad experience with the 200SX, the writing was on the wall after the Renault merger, and very glad I jumped ship when I did. As Nissan has sadly been downgraded again and again, into the junk they are now, for the last two decades.

It's not just the price, they aren't making what folks want...................... and then once you buy something the thing seems to live at the dealer, for the first little while, to get the bugs out of it. So now you (and the bank) kinda own something, and the cost of everything is through the roof, and you don't dare to grow old with this vehicle as the frequency of repair is increasing the older it gets. So you gotta get rid of it before it hits 100,000km (best trade in value) just to start this stupid game all over again. Loose-loose.

@@ECPPMy 2016 Nissan versa manual lasted to 178,000, mi before it broke even though it needed replaced at 150,000 mi. . I had a new clutch installed. It lasted 5,000 mi then broke and now it's sitting in my driveway. I'm not sure if I want to spend another $3,000 on another clutch

You know what my Alberta bro, I used to be exclusively a new car lease type person for 2 or 3 years, and I avoided used cars like the plague. Nowadays, I've totally flipped the script, the main reason being I'm seriously hating all the tech that's crammed onto new vehicles. It's like they're more into creating a tablet / smartphone on wheels, and don't give a crap about the underlying platform (engine, steering, handling). I get it; distract people with blinky tech and they don't notice how crappy the car has become. So now I buy good quality used cars from the era in which the tech was minimal, not much for nannies, knobs and buttons in the dash and in the cabin to access climate controls, and a lot less needless. complexity in the engine bay. I'm really digging older Porsche and Audi products at the moment. They cost a lot to buy in good condition, and they cost a fair bit to keep on the road, but they're actually nice cars to drive, with some fun factor, and they aren't second guessing all your driving decisions while you're on the road.

I can’t think of an appealing Nissan car. I know exactly no one who has said they are actively looking for a Nissan in the last 15 years. Combine that with their horrible CVT I wonder how they stay in business.

When it comes to Nissan you should only buy the Petrol, SkyLine or Fuga

too many car producers, too many models. If you open up 10 take-away stores in a small distance, none of them can make any money.

Nissan always reminded of the "old" BMW of the late 90's, always troubles, high maintenance, and costly repairs. Introduction of the B58 saved BMW. Nissan has not innovated their engines. It is a shame.

You are very right about that. It’s time to step up the game

370z or GTR. All of the other Nissans are trash. The Z and GTR are the only remaining that were manufactured in Japan - and don’t have garbage transmissions. All other Nissans are junk… Used nissans without the CVT and have the older VQ engines are the last reliable ones…

The car market is a swamp. It's just business. Give less. Charge more $. Because... they can. Car makers have a monopoly. Ownership own shares in multiple brands interchanging parts. When will we see Chinese cars for $15k ?
