It's a damn shame Nissan today is a shell of its former glorious self, and is now once again on the verge of bankruptcy.

Such a shame that Nissan dropped the R390. I think the car had potenzial - even as a GTP. Great video!

Agreed - I think the R390 should have achieved more than it did... sad really. Glad you enjoyed :)
@jamiecloughgaming253876 сағат бұрын
I agree if the R390 was developed into 1999 there was a chance they've might have won the race.

@EstebanDonJuanCarlos3 сағат бұрын
Legend has it that 2 road going versions, one that Nissan keeps on display at their museum and the other was (supposedly) sold to a very wealthy customer from the UK. It's said that there's 1 photo of the #2 car in the garage of what looks like a dutch-style half timber home.

The VRH35 in the R390 would live on as its derivatives powered the McLaren MP4-12C and future V8 powered McLarens.

It sucks, they also dropped out of IMSA with a strong car just before the Hybrid regs. The final remaining car in the last season wasn't doing much because their pay driver was WAY behind the curve, but the car was rapid in cooler conditions.

That car with the narrow front track got it wrong. Raindrops fall in a somewhat ideal aerodynamic shape, they are shaped by air resistance to have least resistance. The wide end is at the front, the narrow end at the end (subsonic). Also the steer in must have been terrible, like a motorbike that cant lean into a corner. If they had turned it around 180 degrees, it might have been better.

Seems like Nissan and Toyota are pretty much antithetical to each other when it comes to race locations. Toyota is successful everywhere in the world (Le Mans, WRC, etc) yet struggled at home. Nissan is successful always in their home ground (JGTC, Fuji 24 hours, and the early Japanese racing series that featured the Hakosuka GT-R) yet wasn't quite as successful everywhere else.
@michaelhall7365 сағат бұрын
It's a shame, because the car is absolutely gorgeous and I would love to see the road car in person.

The DeltaWing was inspired. It obviously worried Toyota, who nerfed it off the road into a concrete wall at Le Mans in 2012.

It's nuts to think that with it's 1 win, the 'dud' R391 ended up being more succesful than the iconic Toyota GT1 with it's no wins.
@Tom_Hadler3 сағат бұрын
Indeed. Shame the TS020 never won anything. Especially Le Mans, it's a gran turismo legend and an icon, and so much cooler than that BMW V12 LMR. Mind you, the Ferrari 330P4 only came 2nd too
@fix0the0spade2 сағат бұрын
@@Tom_Hadler But the P4 did win at Daytona and Monza, so it only really failed at Le Mans.

Strange hiccup coming from Nissan. They dominated IMSA GTP class from 1988 to 1991. Also the 300ZX in 1994 won in class in both the 24hrs of Daytona and 24hrs of Lemans.

1:56 1100 kg great I have to convert that to actual useful units so it's 2425 lbs and pounds are better to measure a car in because there's more numbers so you can be more precise without going into the decimal zone
