Nissan Serena S-Hybrid 2022 [Launch Review] - RM149,888 - 162,888 | YS Khong Driving

Edaran Tan Chong Motors has just launched the 2022 Nissan Serena S-hybrid, the one and only 7-seater in the price and size range.
Basically if you are looking for an MPV under RN165,000, the Nissan Serena S-hybrid is pretty much it. Nothing else comes close to it.
The 2022 Serena S- hybrid is an updated version of the current Serena S- hybrid, with enhanced safety plus some welcome upgrades, whilst retaining its core USPs.
It remains a very versatile 7
-seater, with the third row able to take tep average-size adulylts, while there has been some thoughtful rearrangement of the internal seat adjustments that give it more flexibility in legroom allocation.
Also welcome are the additional and complementary Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) features that now include Collusion Detection and Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitor and RCTA.

The evergreen features such as the 'kick" side door activation and the rear half glass opening are retained.
Main exterior features include a new front grille and bumper plus LED lights all around, and the addition od Nappa Leather seats in Black or Red are a nice touch.
There are plenty of other features added, so do take the time tp watch the video to the end and decide if this is indeed the MPV for you.

I own a 2013 Nissan Serena S-hybrid CBU. Things to consider about this car: Kerb weight of 1,710 kg and height of 1,869mm, you will really feel the tyres struggling to keep traction if you attempt over 50km/h turns at most of the sharper turns going up Genting. The Jatco CVT transmission in Nissan is really fragile, doing high torque acceleration and braking while going up Genting is going to burn it out prematurely. The 2.0 litre MR20DD naturally aspirated engine coupled with the Jatco CVT means loud screaming engine revs when doing aggressive acceleration, worse when going uphill. The car handles wonderfully and quietly if you just follow the speed limit and drive at a reasonable speed without too much sudden acceleration and braking. Fuel consumption wise is the same as Mr YS Khong's test he did for the Serena previously: 11km per litre. (The stated 14km per litre I've never achieved)

I rented this car last month in Langkawi, brand new car, 6 of us family, it was a good runabout moderately hilly Langkawi, my family who drove the car were lamenting its power up a hill or even overtaking since it had 6 of us. Simply good for the job of taking 6 adults round Langkawi, and we were visiting from Melbourne, using the car for 4 full days

Depends on the slope, speed and road condition. If you are talking about Genting, it would be 2 or 3 most of the time

Depends on you speed, the slope severity, your speed and the condition of the road. Usually a lower gear gives you better control.
