Thank you for this video. I'm a huge Silvia fan. I was fortunate to have owned a 180SX (known as a 200SX) in Singapore and it was the cleanest one around. I dropped in a SR20 from a S15, using a S14 gear box and had multiple upgrades from a R33 under the chassis. I missed my car so much that I'm not shy to say that I actually teased when I had to sell her away. Today, all I have in a beautiful tattoo of her exact image on my arm. I've kept all the magazines that I was featured in too. Love the car. 😃🙏👍🤘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Silvia's will always be a part of my life. I think the size, the design and weight and the SR20DET made them perfect. I wonder if more work to the balance of the chassis would have helped at survavibility, because they tend to act like Porsche's when you give them more power to the engine, and owners have a hard time keeping them alive on the road, there just to light in the rear. But my only true wish is they stopped Drifting them, and that people discovered there track potential. The future of these cars seems dire.
@GTContent7 жыл бұрын
Yes, I never really understood the drifting thing. It doesn't really provide any performance value as I don't believe I've seen a racing competition where it ever won against grip driving. If that were the case, major brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren would be seen adopting it. Everyone has there own preferences though. I believe it's just a "Cool" thing to do with a car like doing a burnout, donuts, etc. which can be fun.

I always loved the look of the S15. I was fortunate enough to purchase a beautiful worked JDM widebody Spec R a few years back as a weekend ride. Fulfilling a lifelong desire to own a high powered turbo street machine with big deep dish rims. Every time I take it out, I am approached by people asking about it. It is unbadged so I even get some people thinking it is some new exotic sports car. I hope the Silvia returns one day.

@GTContent7 жыл бұрын
The major differences will be #1Engine and #2Cosmetic. I go through it in the video, but below is a briefing. (I did not cover the European 200SX). Silvia (JDM) Initially offered with CA18DET (hence the 1 & 8 in 180SX), then later the SR20DET.180SX (JDM) Initially offered with CA18DET (hence the 1 & 8 in 180SX), then later the SR20DET. 200SX (EDM) Initially offered with CA18DET (hence the 1 & 8 in 180SX), then later the SR20DET. (Don't confuse this with the 200SX in the US which is FWD and had an option for the SR20DE). 240SX (USA) Initially offered with the KA24E (hence the 2 & 4 in 240SX), then later KA24DE.

After looking at a good number of your videos it seems like the late 70's through the late 90's was Japan's peak in sports car manufacturing. After that all the newer offerings just blend together and became boring cars that don't even capture the target audience anymore. Its like they're trying to make a sports car into something bigger and more practical.

Sileighty is a special model made by a Japanese Tuner Kids Heart that is legalized by Nissan. They made 400 units and the concept from this is that due to the 180SX were being used by most touge racers and they often crash their cars, they need front replacement parts and the Silvia Coupe's front quarters and parts are cheaper thus they combined the front to an 180SX chassis and viola, that's the Sileighty. However, Kids Heart version has better ECU, stiffer suspension and an LSD.

Not likely since it will eat into 370Z sales. They've already done this in the 90's (Skyline, 300ZX, Silvia, 180SX) hence they went bankrupt. If you're dead set on a Silvia-like car, then just buy a GT/BRZ and turbocharge it. Nissan's hesitation caused Toyota/Subaru to build it.

It initially used a 1.8L CA18DET, which is why it's called a 180SX. It later received a 2.0L SR20DET, but remained 180SX in Japan. European (and other) countries called it the 200SX. There is no 280SX. There is a Datsun 280ZX produced in the 1979.
