After doing this, there’s one other thing you should check. The piece of plastic at the bottom of the windshield the bridges the gap to the hood is called the cowl (The thing the windshield wipers poke through). Right where it connects with the windshield is supposed to be a little rubber strip that gets dried out, cracks, or is completely gone. If it’s gone, it lets too much water come down the windshield into the basin. You should get some weatherstripping from Home Depot that fills the void between the cowl and the windshield. There is an actual Nissan part for this but you don’t need that. The official name is hood Cowl extension panel seal. I bought mine on eBay for about $45. Genuine Nissan Titan Armada Hood Cowl Extension Panel Seal 66832-7S000. It is literally just a tiny piece of weatherstripping that is sticky on one side that sticks to the windshield. If you have a gap there, fixing the drain alone is not going to resolve this.

@@TallFamilyFilms Great info….Parts Manager@my Nissan dealer also said that. To replace both of those “plastic cowls” that have the rudder seals at the bottom is very expensive. No sunroof on my truck. Great job linking the “plastic clip removal set” on Amazon. Ordered it in 5 minutes. Great camera work and instructions. I watch it done, I usually can do it. .Thank you so much…worried about it.

Wow! Thanks for the video. I was convinced my issue was corroded paint on the passenger side and was looking to have my roof and hood repainted since there is corrosion. This saved me a lot of money and now I can plan to have the truck painted instead of taking it in as an emergency. LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED!!

@@renimartin1359 glad to hear it! Make sure you replace the small strip of insulation between the windshield and the plastic cowl. It needs to go all the way across and if your truck is old, it’s probably gone. Otherwise, too much water comes down the windshield too fast and it overflows the drain.

The problem might be a lot simpler. I found later that there is a strip of insulation that is supposed to go under the plastic cowl at the bottom of the windshield. in my case, the weather had pretty much destroyed it. So, water coming down the windshield would flood the compartment you see in this video. I went to Home Depot and got a very thin strip of insulation that was adhesive on one side. It is in the weatherstripping department. I stuck it to the windshield underneath the plastic and I’ve never had a problem since.

I know this is 3 years old. But my neighbors 2022 Titan was just totaled by insurance for having flooded dash and electrical problems from the water intrusion? I have also seen that the full size moon roof is prone to water intrusion and when drain lines are plugged by debris it floods the floor. Two major defects with Titan trucks.

Check the drains for sure. On mine, the insulation strip at the bottom of the windshield was gone. I just used the Home Depot insulation (1/4 x 3x8 I think. It’s the thinnest one they had. Draw a line on the windshield right at the cowl, Remove the cowl, and lay the insulation right under the line. I can’t speak to its longevity as I just did it. But it works.

@@TallFamilyFilms I’m not talking about a thin piece of insulation, mine is a narrow thin piece of finish trim that’s plastic. There may have been insulation under that with some kind of two sides tape at some point but there isn’t anymore. But again that’s not my issue, I’m looking for the piece of plastic. Mine sits on top of that cowl and is broken.
@TallFamilyFilms
@TallFamilyFilms 28 күн бұрын
@@4u2nve I know the piece you’re talking about. Mine cracked into many pieces. I could never find a part number for it. But its purpose is to not allow tons of water to come down the windshield and overflow the drain. So the one-sided sticky insulation strip from Home Depot did the trick. If you ever find that part number for the other plastic strip, please let me know

The ac in the rear of my 09 qx56 isn't getting cold could it be the heater control valve under the hood?
@TallFamilyFilms
@TallFamilyFilms 7 ай бұрын
If it isn’t clicking, I would not think it’s a problem. But I wonder if you have a blend door that is stuck somewhere that controls air to the rear. Essentially, it’s just a plastic door that is opened or closed with a little motor called an actuator. These doors and actuators are prone to breaking. If the temperature doesn’t change when you press the button to activate the rear controls, then I would assume something is physically stuck or broken. Especially if the air in the front is cold.
@seibles1
@seibles1 7 ай бұрын
The reason I said that was because in the winter I had to turn the valve manually under the hood because the gear had script out in order to get heat in the truck so now that I went back to are I'm thinking I may have to do that in reverse

Would you use the same process for the Nissan Frontier
@TallFamilyFilms
@TallFamilyFilms Жыл бұрын
All Nissans would be very similar. The most important part of this scenario is to make certain that water cannot run down the windshield and straight into the cowl. There should be a thin strip of insulation where the cowl meets the windshield that deflects the water so it runs off the sides a bit. Nissans over about 10 years or so will be missing that because it aged and broke.

@@TallFamilyFilms thanks for the help. I am trying to find a leak on the driver's side. The carpet get soaked quite often.
@TallFamilyFilms
@TallFamilyFilms Жыл бұрын
@@johndude262 start with a garden hose and only spray specific parts of a car, one of the time over several days until you figure out the actual place that causes the leak. Does this car have a sunroof? That’s a prime spot because there are small drains in the top when the sunroof is open to funnel water away it’s supposed to come out down behind the tires. But those lines get clogged. You can get really long drain cleaners on Amazon pretty cheap. If you just search Sunroof brush cleaner, it’ll probably come up. It’s like a pipe cleaner with a really long steel cable behind it.
