This video saved me big time from this South Florida heat. Was having the same issue with my 07 Pathfinder. Took it to two auto shops and they could not figure out what was going on. Then I came across this video and bam!! Got the part and within 10-minutes it was blowing nice cold air. I called both auto shops and told them what was wrong just in case they came across this issue again with Nissan. Thanks for the video!!

Was experiencing the same issue but had a hard time finding a forum thread or video about it. Somehow I finally came across your video. I was able to fix this for a $20 part online and 5 minutes of my time. Sure beats a $75 dealer part and an hour of labor charges. I used a 7/32 socket for anyone else out there making this repair. Yes this works! Important note - sometimes the symptoms are slightly different. For example on my 2005, the 1st fan setting did work, but the AC would randomly turn off after a minute or so. Eventually the recirc would also turn itself off, and finally the 1st fan setting stopped. I got the part for $25 on Amazon and install took about 3 min. I used a 7/32 socket. Thanks for the video!

I have an 08 pathfinder, I’m getting voltage at the black plug that is on the compressor, it’s blowing like a champ but th clutch won’t engage and it won’t take r134a when I try to load it on the low pressure line. I want to jump the compressor to force it to engage and take the r134a like it is supposed to. I believe I have a low pressure (freeon) lock out

Update, I called auto zone after seeing your video, I gave them the part # they had 1 in stock I payed for it over the phone and rushed over to picked it up, it's a pricey part $59, get a flashlight a screwdriver to push the clip lever, be prepared to scrape your elbow and knees I got fed up and I used some padding, you will do some body twisting until you find the right angle to get to the screws, I used a 7/32nd socket with a foldable screwdriver with ratchet and it worked perfectly , took me about 10 minutes and I was so happy when my AC starting working again. Once again thank you for this video

@georgep76276 жыл бұрын
First thank you for this video. It also saved me time diagnosing this weird problem, since your problem was exactly what I was experiencing. It was weird because I thought AC either works or not (at least, comes on or doesn't). I've learned something. Now, the worst part was to undo those 2 screws. I found a socket that fit exactly but it's very hard to use a wrench in that tight and dark place. I used the smallest and could only turn a tiny bit at a time, so it took 3-4 min to undo each screw. Get some light down there. I changed mine in blinding sunshine and couldn't see down underneath the dashboard. You'll also have to contort your body, because there's no comfortable way to do this. But, it's very doable and very simple. I'd also advise not to try to remove the white plug (as you suggest), because it's very hard to do it (mine didn't want to come off). ...you don't want to damage it---you don't want this problem down there. Just undo the 2 screws and the whole thing comes off. Then you pop off the old unit and in the new one. By the way, there's no noticeable damage or smell to old part, but it's bad. Once I the new resistor is in place, the AC works just as before the problem. A couple more things. I looked at Amazon and found a few for under $30. But, I'm going on a trip tomorrow and it's hot, so I need AC. Autozone has the Duralast JA 1430 for $62 + tax and with a lifetime guarantee. But for $32 they also have a Santech with 1 yr warranty. I opted for the latter. I didn't even know they had that, but my local Autozone people are super nice and gave me the option. So, for a couple $ more than online ordering and immediate solution, it was great! A weird problem like intermittent AC operation can end up costing hundreds of dollars at the Nissan dealership, because you don't know what's causing it. Diagnostics, part, labor, and time... My local (Newburgh, NY) Nissan charges diagnostics for everything! By the way, I have a 2005 Xterra 4WD with manual AC (I don't know if they come with auto AC, where you set the temp and forget it, but that's what I have on my newer car)

My resistor block kept blowing, so I took the fan motor apart entirely. Water would collect inside the base of the plastic motor case, so I drilled a 1/4" hole in the bottom to drain it out if it ever got water inside again. The motor will slide out of that plastic casing with some wiggling. I then took the motor apart ( had to hammer out the tabs holding the metal casing around the motor to get at the brushes) The brushes were rusted in place enough that they weren't making good contact with the "coils". Cleaned out the channels they slide in, and the gaps between the "commutator coils", put it all back together with a new fan resistor block and it's been working fine ever since. (You have to use a needle or some very fine tip to clean those gaps, and make sure you clean them out well)

They make half size metric sockets i have a 4.5 and a 5.5 metric socket. you can buy one at autozone for 6 bucks.No they do not come in "standard sets"most wrench sets skip 11 or 12 or 13 mm in "standard"they aren't regular sizes so the stealerships get to make money when most customers get to this point and don't know what to do!! .a crescent wrench or pair of pliers is possible but a 5.5 socket or nut driver is the correct tool makes the job simple!! and 50 x's faster!! other than that great video .hope this helps for future reference and anyone else needing to perform this!!
