Did the install a few months ago on my frontier. Your tips on the sway bar and exhaust system bolts removal were very helpful. If working by yourself, a jack between the frame and leaf springs helped tremendously with the shackle install. I didn't have to remove the rear shocks.

Just did struts on mine and there are so many easier ways to do this. To get the bottom strut bolt out leave both side of the sway bar end links of of and it will rotate out of the way. Then you can put them back on when you've completed both sides. Also you do not need to release the upper ball joint to get the strut out.

I upgrade on some bilstein 6112's and it comes with notches for lift. I was just gonna put on lowest notch which is stock and use a 2" lift from Rough Country leveling kit. At the moment it's very hard on top notch, and will change to the leveling kit when I get the part.

Thanks for the video. It was pretty helpful. I did the same install this week. Except, my kit has neoprene front spacers. I did the fronts by myself. But, needed a friend to help with pulling down the rear leaf springs so I could install the bottom bolts. I didn't need to loosen my tail pipe. But I did have to drop my spare to get the driver's side shackle off, and the new one on. Now I'm running Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 LT285 75R16s. I get a slight rub on the inside of each front mudflap, which I'll trim just enough to obtain full clearance.

Some notes on the ride quality: Before having the wheels aligned it was not safe to drive... drivable, but not safe. The ride of the vehicle has improved in that it's more comfortable now and seems to absorb bumps better. The rear end hasn't bottomed out since the install. Handling is not as good as it was. I notice a little bit more body roll but not to the point where it seems dangerous. I have not had the need for shims.

Great tutorial. Do you get any clunking coil bucket contact since this kit does not come with a bump stop?
@atmtech726 жыл бұрын
You would make it easier if you disconnect both ends of the front sway bar when you start the first side then only reconnect both once the second side is done, its job is to reduce body roll by connecting both sides together. similarly with the rear end, drop both old shackles then do both longer ones.

Brian Judge I am still happy with the kit. For the price, nothing compares. My only complaint is that when I go over speed bumps or drive quickly over dips, there's an unusual knocking sound. This might me unique to the off road and pro-4x models. For the 10x the price I could get the lift kit I really want but now's not the time.

Hi, thank you for sharing. Few questions. I can't afford having someone do a lift on my truck but this looks simple enough for me to do it. Is there any negatives vs those expensive lifts? Also I'm hoping to install 33s on my stock rims and do the melt mod. Is this a good idea? I use truck everyday to go to work at highway (4am) speeds and only go to the beach (sand driving) a few times a year. Thank you.
@DanielMartinez-hv2ww8 жыл бұрын
It's definitely the cheapest option. Since I installed the kit I've been really happy with it. It has improved the looks a bit BUT I keep wondering what it'd be like to have a "real" lift kit. But that's just not in my budget. It would look a lot cooler but ultimately I don't need it for the driving I do. I've heard of some others running 33's with no problem after the melt mod. I have 265/75r16 which is just about 32" and, even before the leveling kit, I had no problem at all with them. If you decide to do the melt mod, I'd like to see your results.

2.5" in the front? Are you at full droop all the time when you drive? Are your shocks stock or do they top out?
@DanielMartinez-hv2ww8 жыл бұрын
Yes. 2.5" in front. I wish I would have measured the ride height before and after to show the actual difference but it was too late once I thought of it. I still have the stock shocks on. The Off-Road model comes with Bilstein shocks. That might make a difference because I think they add a little lift already compared to the other models.
@atmtech726 жыл бұрын
keep in mind that the travel of the front shocks is still standard ride height, its lifted at the top above the shock. the rear shock is at a different height to standard now.

How thick where your spacers
@CRR60mg6 жыл бұрын
Side Note ... a) some of you might have a bit of a challenge reconnecting back to the upper ball joint because at some point jack will be lifting the whole vehicle without actually compressing the spring. Get yourself a couple of 200lb friends in that truck and a couple of big-ass channel locks to pull one part to another. Video doesn't show at all how much of a bitch that process is. If your springs will compress easily there is a high chance you might want to replace those two. Otherwise it's a cheap but fairly simple way to lift the truck. b) don't forget to disconnect ABS wire. c) I wouldn't connect sway bar back until both sides are done and hanging free. d) Longer shackles although lifting the rear end make it weaker than OEM setup (ask me how I know about it).e) if you plan on replacing camber bolts "get ready for war". On my 06 Xterra I had to use 4.5" grinder to cut the OEM bolts because they effectively fused with LCA bushings and so did the bushings to the LCAs, so I had to replace bolts and bushings together which involved ripping the center bushing cylinder with leftovers of the bolt out with help of the ball joint replacement kit. It was much easier than burning the rubber out like some suggest ...especially if you drill holes in the rubber part prior. Then kick the crap out of the outer shell of the bushing with help of the good ole' chisel and BFH. f) One other upgrade I would recommend is the aftermarket upper control arm to avoid CBC (coil bucket contact) but those cost a small fortune so get ready :)

I had this lift and took it off, because of the coil bucket contact problem. Every bump you went over, the coil bucket would slam, making me cringe every time. Don't do the lift, wait and do it the right way, or at least buy a new upper control arm to fix that problem.
