Niteangel has recently come out to the US with their line of small animal enrichment and toys. But in fall 2020 when this video was filmed, I got a chance to buy ANOTHER of their cages that has been out on the market in other parts of the world called the "Bigger World MDF" cage, in the size LARGE. See me set this massive hamster or mouse cage up and watch me talk about the building process. This is not quite a review, but I hope you'll enjoy it none the less.

For anyone about to build one: I just put one of these together recently and found it helps to warm the silicone rings up in your hand and exercise/stretch them a little bit to cause internal friction (thus warming them and making them more elastic). This makes them less likely to snap and break when putting them on!

Also, I’m pretty sure that ikea sells a PAX which is a wardrobe system, but if you lay it on it’s side, it becomes a huge cage! There are multiple sizes and two different heights, but im pretty sure it doesnt need a stand. One down side is that you hafta make a lid and the front isnt clear. However, it is relatively cheap for its size :)

I think for simple construction. Although you can always alter the enclosure to your needs and the hamsters need. I'd likely add mesh or create holes to the sides depending on the humidity that and would leave enough for the beddings depth.

The floppy clear panels, the whole thing being held together, remarkably poorly, by a baggie of glorified rubber bands... the giant lid holes where they could've installed a mesh panel on the top and back wall and a handle... This enclosure really doesn't do it for me, lol. It'd be nice to be able to use the vertical space I paid for without fear of my small animals (I keep mice!) escaping. The positive here is that companies seem to be catching up and releasing more giant enclosures, FINALLY.

I wish my gerbils had a cage like this or at least that size. They were both in a 10 gallon, I asked my parents for a bigger cage they said no but the gerbils lived almost 4 years and were so tame and docile they'd walk into my hand to be picked up. They also purred when I petted them. They were more like cats. Still miss them so much.

Instead of the silicone rings you could try wrapping the tabs with wire or fishing twine. I really appreciate your review of this enclosure. Where this cage is a little flimsy, I would imagine you would need to attach the wheels to like a piece of plywood or something else sturdier then the cage and then either somehow attach the cage to that, or just lay it on top. I dont think putting the wheels on it directly would be a good idea

I feel like putting silicon or wood glue in the joints, then coating the inside with some waterproof stick-on shelf paper stuff and then silicon sealing the edges would make it a perfectly sturdy and long-lasting cage, though you wouldn't be able to take it apart anymore after that. Hi, Munchies and others, I am wondering if those silicone rings would be able to replace with zipties? I purchased the large in September. I haven’t had a lot of issues with the silicone bands. I may have had to replace one or two. I occasionally check for popped bands. You did a great job putting that together! We had two of us putting it together and still struggled. We ran into a lot of the same problems so it was fun to watch this and commiserate with you! I did do the tape all along the inside edges, I took it really seriously and did it so carefully, my back and legs hurt for days afterward as I am not very tall and had to bend over and reach in to line all edges with tape...and my Syrian hamster has pretty much ripped it all out! So that was a waste of time and effort. I would like to find a way to prop the lid open rather than flipping it all the way back. Overall I really like it and it is so exciting that Niteangel is making such great products for hamsters.

Expensive, custom made enclosures for reptiles. While the only thing i'd need is the sliding or opening front doors, those enclosures should be for reptiles due to all of its features. I also don't know the strength of the hardware mesh up top. It looks like a high gauge metal which is weaker in strength from what I've seen. There is a Acrylic company on Ebay that makes custom Acrylic enclosures, but are expensive as well due to having to ship the entire thing already built.

It's a lovely cage, it can be narrow and kind of hard to place things but it is overall a nice cage. I have 3 hamsters, one is in a 134XL really useful bin cage (only suitable bin for hamsters)... a detolf (obviously) and a 4ft vivarium for another hamster. Though I do plan to make Victoria Raechels DIY wheelable cage to move my dwarf that lives in the bin cage to something a bit nicer than plastic. And at some point probably also another 2 just so I can use my detolf as a shelf and use my vivarium for a future reptile (though I've already tiled the vivarium so I may just use it as a medical quarantine cage).

Hi Munchie. I was wondering, seeing as the plastic panels are so thin, do you think that one could cut some slits up on the top portion of those panels for extra ventilation? At least on the side panels. You would probably have to sand the edges down a little.

Yeah you can definitely pick up some ring gaskets to replace the silicone bands at any hardware store

Theres actually a model that have front and top opening like what i’m using now,, and there’s a sandpaper like sponge that you can use to smoothen the edges so the silicone rings don’t get cut..

On Niteangel’s insta you can see all the different cages they make. They have front opening cages, I’ve asked and they say the cages will be coming to the US one day!!! So 🤞

Ugh I thought of your channel last night when I saw a couple buy a Syrian and what I think was a critter trail? It was a tiny pink castle.

I'm pretty sure O-rings would be a good durable replacement when those elastics break :)

I finally received the medium Niteangel Bigger World Enclosure. When I noticed how painful it was to use the silicone rings, I knew I had to wear those gloves. I had no problem with the rings, and none tore. I love the enclosure, but it is concerning how it’s being held. Another Niteangel reviewer mentioned that slightly bigger rings can also be bought on Amazon for anyone who is having a hard time with the ones that arrive with the enclosure.

Do you think you could you try and review the 'Living World Eco Habitat'? I'm interested in getting it for my hamster, but it's hard to find any review videos that go into detail if that makes sense.

i would recommend either the medium or large! personally i don’t think the small size is big enough for a hamster but it’s a great cage that allows for deep bedding and lots of accessories. it’s also really helpful that it’s on wheels but that does mean that you can’t place it on a table to elevate it higher. the only thing i don’t think is the best is the lid as i don’t think it allows enough ventilation but it can either be switched out and you can build your own diy or you could leave it open sometimes when you are in the room and are able to supervise! overall i think it’s great! hope this helps! ps i can’t really talk about durability or sturdiness as i haven’t had it for very long at all!

@@eleanorgrace6600 I appreciate your reply! It’s hard to find any good, detailed reviews so reading your experience with it does help. -The medium is the one I’m looking at getting because a) the large is too big for the room the cage will be in, and b) the medium is the only one I can find for sale lol. -I’ve heard somewhere that the wheels are removable? I hope that’s the case, since I don’t feel comfortable putting the cage on the floor coz of my dogs 😬. -This might sound like a daft question, but is this sort of cage quieter than, say, a wire cage? I’ve heard that these sorts of cages block out more sound than wire cages, and that’s why I’ve been looking more into them since the noise my hamster makes is the only thing I struggle with, since my ears always become particularly sensitive at night. I know that the amount of noise a hamster makes can be put down to the items in the cage, but you know what I mean (hopefully lol).

@TheyCallMeChips I am not too sure about the wheels as I have never tested but if you’ve read that then they probably are or there will be some way to unscrew them or even just not put them on in the first place I believe! And yes I do think this cage would be quieter than a wire cage! Any type of cage with no bars is undoubtably going to be quieter as wires in cages are just constantly clanging I find and are so incredibly loud! If it is noise kind of to do with the cage itself such as rattling or chewing on the wires or base then yh this cage will be significantly quieter! One thing I did find was that sometimes it wld slide around with the wheels but since it’s now on carpet in my room it’s not moved at all and it should be absolutely fine on a table like your suggesting! I mean if it’s to do with the items in the cage then I don’t think this cage would be any less noisy as it’s the same items just in a different cage but potentially because it doesn’t have wires sides and it’s solid it would let less sound through? I am not to sure on that one aha hope this helps!

you would need a metal stand to bear the weight. Also, it is possible to use cinderblocks and 2x4 planks of wood.

Just wondering, how would I make the enclosure sturdier by using the silicone tank sealant, do you know how I would do it? I don't want it to be flimsy but am confused on how exactly to do it lol.

I live in Vietnam, theres no suitable cage for hamster here they're often keep in boxes that is below 100 square inches, so I decided just make my own bin cage but since we are in a pandemic the shipping fee is higher than the bin it self, I did found good cages on amazon but they cost like a kidney and a liver to me since $1=23vnd plus the shipping is over the roof, you guys are so lucky :(
