PEJOYT Large Hamster Cage Unboxing & Review! | Munchie's Place

The entire small animal amazon section for rodents is turning their eye to wooden acrylic enclosures. But does this one from Pejoyt stand up to todays ideals or does it feel more like a cash grab?
Reminder that the main things to look for are as follows:
1st can it safely house an animal without escape? 2nd is there adequate space for the species the cage says it's for? 3rd are the materials cheap or do they feel sturdy? And lastly 4th, what are the features and do they add to the cage or hold it back?

From the title I thought this was going to be a good enclosure for once, but of course I was wrong; why would a company want to make an actual good enclosure when they can get people to buy a shoebox for their pets instead? This is why the wold needs people like Munchie to educate and rescue animals.

It's the Sterilite 200 quart bin.... Or better Sterilite's Christmas tree bin which is larger in square inches although shorter in height. Best value for a hamster domain. Of course, you do have to upgrade the lid for proper air ventilation with a small DIY project. If Munchie can create a great looking escape proof lid, you can too.

I have mice and keep them in a 5' x 2' x 2'..... So I would not ever recommend that enclosure..

Permanent cage for mice? No. Perhaps as a play cage might be okay. Maybe just for a single male mouse though, all the female mice I have ever had in the rescue have been BIG chewers and if discontent they would absolutely try to chew out and probably most of them would have succeeded. I have always felt that mice need as much space as hamsters do, they are busy and curious and love to play! Thank you for making this video! I am so going to send it to people if someone applies to adopt and wants to use the cage 😊

It think if it's an English company it might be "pet joy" with joy being in the word pet, but if it isn't then maybe it means something else in a different language :/ idk

They wanted the company 'pet joy', discovered it was already taken, so named themselves pejoyt instead by moving a letter.

Thanks for reviewing cages. Such a joke it is recommended for Chinchillas. Chinchillas are like beavers. They would chew through it in a couple of hours. It is so tiny. A mouse would either chew their way out or get out where the cage is not secure. Even if it wasn't way too small for Chinchillas, they can't have anything plastic in their cage.

Why can’t someone come out with a glass tank that’s the appropriate size?? Niteangel is awesome but unstackable and I don’t like the bands. I prefer tanks. Why. Why do major companies not listen??

I forgot to mention that the insides are easy to have a hamster start chewing the wood from within. Since the wood isn't smooth, it's textured. Nothing like what niteangel did which was coat the inside and make it smooth so no hamster can get a grip with their teeth. That's why I wanna test this with mice. Or maybe I should get an Iguana like the photo suggested and see how long that'll last. 😂

For Mice? Maybe, MAYBE, ONE single male mouse, and this would be like the bare minimum, but even then I have doubts. It's so small that the animals will probably just stay in the hide all day and only come out for food, water, or to room the wheel. It would be like keeping a human in the kitchen - they can eat, drink, sleep on the floor, but the enrichment is low!

Could you do a video on exactly what to put in a dig box so that the tunnels will not collapse? I have a 10 gallon tank inside of a Large Niteangel Vista and have tried a number of the beddings you recommend in different combinations, but haven't found one where the tunnels will stay put. Thanks in advance!

dig boxes dont have tunnels the rest of the cage should be for tunnelling :)

Not really related to the video but I just assembled the 100cm metal hamster cage from bucatstate (the stackable one.) It was SOOO hard to assemble for me and took several hours, it came damaged in a few different places, is not very stable, and I yelled at it. Haven’t filled it up yet but we’ll see how that goes..

Didn't you send it back? If you bought it on Amazon you can ask to be refunded or they can send you a good one. I'm looking at that enclosure as well and i was so happy for a metal/acrylic cage! I really hope it's not too unstable tbh :/ it would be a pity

@@MayaPatch I can’t exactly send it back as I had already disassembled my previous cage to wash and be used for another hammy, it’s a kind of complicated situation but point is I can’t not use it now. It’s not as flimsy with bedding inside and I don’t think the wheel will make noise while on the platform, but I can’t be sure because Maze hasn’t ran yet. But if you’d like I can write updates here on how things go here in the comments. Regardless I will probably end up upload some updates on my community tab as well as a video review talking about it later on.

I won't buy it soon, i already have the living world eco habitat (same size) but i don't really trust wood 😆 so, when Bucatstate released this cage, i was thrilled! I bought already some stuff from them, for now they're the only option to Niteangel for Europeans (but Niteangel opened a shop in Canada and UK! So i hope they open in EU as well!). I want anyway trust Bucatstate because they're a young Company and they're learning and receiving feedback from the community. They seem interested in improving, so that's a good point! They might improve this new cage as well 😁

@@MayaPatch I live in Europe as well and in my country we don’t really have many suitable enclosures or even good care for that matter (mostly) so Bucatstate has been a good option for hides, wheels, and other accessories for me. But yeah, they do have some questionable supplies, and are still pretty new to the market. I’d love to do reviews of how their stuff holds up long term, like how the quality of the product actually is. That’s likely a future project tho, I have a few hectic months of school ahead of me. But I’ll be sure to tell you how the cage worked over night when I get up tomorrow! She does seem to like it so far :)

@@Jax_4200 oohhh good to know! I discovered them when i looked for a wheel. I bought a 21cm one for my hammy. It's been 1 year now and it works perfectly! Easy to clean and silent. Nothing to complain. If I'm going to adopt a Syrian, i think i buy their wheel 2.0, the 30cm one! I also got a few Niteangel stuff but from AliExpress 😆 but, man, it worth! Finding suitable cages, in physical shops, is not easy in Italy as well I bought almost everything online

That's why I wanna try this. But usually they chew for nesting materials. So there will be a lot of different textures in the cage once I try it. I'll make an updated video to update my thoughts on mice being suitable once I try it.

Appears she likes the expensive Niteangel cages as she has one for her personal hamster. Although she uses the Sterilite bins, 200 quart for Syrians, 116 quart for dwarfs with her rescue hamsters...

My rescue hamster came in this and maybe you got a bad one because mine was super secure. That being said, my hamsters in a 75 gallon tank now. Wouldn’t recommend the size.

I am sure one could use wood glue to firm up the flimsiness significantly... However I do not think the slits for air ventilation on the side panels would survive any animal chewing it, although the steel mesh on the top does appear to be strong enough... Unfortunately this enclosure is TOO SMALL for a hamster...

I'm a new hamster mom and have been shocked at how small the largest hamster enclosures on the market are. For birds we have double cages, walk in aviarys and massive double walk in aviarys for people with the space and money. For hamsters....niteangel. and I'm kinda disappointed at the size of their largest enclosure, they're not much above the minimum cage size for a syrian. Looks like I'm gonna need to diy an enclosure.

I completely agree with you. Often cages will be called XL when they are small. DIY is a great way to make a decent size setup.❤
