I have both but for me the 27 is a better carry as the pocket clip is deeper and just better to carry. That said the 29 is still a brilliant touch, and that new lockout is so much better and faster ! All these touches are a quality build, the best EDC touches I have owned to date and that’s quite a few, lol. I have been waiting for this review Eric. I highly recommend the EDC29 to your viewers. I own it and it's great. That lockout switch makes this the best out of all the EDC lights from nitecore. The battery can easily last two days for me and that's perfect. I am a security guard and this is my go to pocket torch. If I had one gripe, it would be I wish it just a touch more floody in the lowest light settings. A thrower for sure.

And I love this small (but not too small) hand held size. I am also currently looking at trigger locks. The ones that pull off when you have them tied down in something like a purse or fannypack or drawer/console. Any suggestions? Thanks again for this good and helpful review. I get a laugh out of people complaint about built in batteries while they carry around 1000-1500 dollar cell phones they trade in every 1-3 years typically. Losing 500-1000 dollars. I have Rovy Von and Sure fire key chain lights many years old still working and now replaced w better lights. I have a crate full of older lights that are no longer used w replaceable batteries that are basically obsolete vs current offerings. Great review much appreciated.

I hope the buttons are improved, the consistency in the button quality that is. I owned two ED27s with the proximity sensor update so you don't burn a hole in your pants, I lost one while riding on a trail with just 4 months of ownership so I'm on my second ED27 and I just ordered my ED29 couple of hours ago. I've got no issues with the Turbo/Strobe or the "Mode" button on the 27 it's nice and tactile. However, upon opening my second ED27, I can't help but notice a suuuuper mushy power button. Like a night and day difference between my first one, you can barely tell which is a half or a full press and it after owning my second ED27 for nearly a year since I unboxed it, time surely does not help with the tactile feedback of the power button I believe it got worse even. I've read that the ED27 UHI and EDC25 updated the buttons probably also due to user feedback but I do hope I get better buttons on my ED29 that's on the way.

A truly pathetic water+dust rating of ip54 and just a 24 month warranty on a light with a permanent, non-replaceable battery? Other than it gets bright in turbo and has a large battery for this size/shape format, what is actually good about this light at all? Am I missing the point? It seems like a fidget toy/gadget with all the counterintuitive modes, options, and dual rear buttons both with dual press modes. Complicated to the point that now a common flashlight needs and has its own LCD display. There's even multiple types of lock modes to figure out. Onto construction, we have stainless shell cover plates screwed into a plastic inner frame. Why not just build the case out of a single, hollowed out block of metal--like the competition does? So now we have a weaker, leaky design that gives it a higher retail price as well. This light seems like a loser for real work. Olight sells the similarly shaped Arkfeld line also with built-in batteries but they warranty the Arkfeld & all internal/built-in batteries for life. Well, at least in the US to the original owner. Still, saying that phone companies "do it too" with the planned obsolescence isn't the hand wave excuse you seem to think it is. Maybe if you think of this as just another fidget toy and not a serious tool, then the low quality and limited support make sense as the user-base will have moved on to another item sponsored by their favorite KZbinrs by then anyway.

@kyle-qw5yx Yeah, to say a rechargeable battery isn't better is insane. Who wants to keep buying batteries for a flashlight when you can plug it in almost anywhere.
@Commin_Cents2 ай бұрын
I prefer batteries. Not only can I slap a few batteries in when the electric goes out and still have a flashlight I can use, but I can also throw a pack of AA in my backpack when I'm out hiking which is much easier than trying to recharge the flashlight in an emergency situation. Batteries are like extra mags for a gun. You always want extra mags. There's a reason why the military has never carried rechargeable flashlights. They still carry flashlights that run off batteries that can quickly and easily be swapped out. You wouldn't want your rifle to have to recharge in order to be able to fire it and you don't want your flashlight to have to recharge either. With that said, I do realize that most of you hardly ever find yourself deep in the woods or away from the big city lights. Most of you haven't been more than 20 feet away from a wall socket your entire lives.

EDC27 was pretty useless, buttons was clumsy, & didnt always work. Locking function was very unreliable, & switched itself on in my pocket on a couple occasions on full 2000 lumen turbo mode. Burned a hole through two of my pants pockets & melted the polyester from my pocket to my leg. (apparently the proximite sensor did not work as advertised). EDC 27 was also not even splash proof, as it stopped after getting wet in my pocket while running from my car to office in a rain storm. I highly doubt the EDC29 will be any better than the 27... So I will not be buying any other nitecore torches... There are currently A LOT of other brands of high performance torches that is truely better than nitecore at a fraction of the price!!!!!
