2 weeks after I get the EDC27hci, this gets released! I picked one up on sale and love it. It’s everything the 27 is and MORE!!! I love the manual lockout switch but… I wish the the lockout had memory. Every time you use the lockout switch, it automatically defaults back to FULL lock mode. If you want to place it in SEMI, you have to hold the MODE button while toggling the lockout switch. Since I like carrying in SEMI, it’s an extra step every time I put it away.

Working shift work, I am in love with my EDC25. I was close to getting the 27 instead, but the 25 having slightly more output was exactly what I wanted (plus was cheaper). However, if there would ever be a replacement to my 25, it would certainly be this one. A great light to slap on and have it when I need it. Not having a replaceable battery isn’t the end of the world for me who can stay in the car most of my shift able to charge it between work. The pocket clip won’t be a problem if you put it on a vest. That 2 hour run time at 1200 lumens may just sell me with a little more time to sit on the idea.

I love my edc25 and will probably end up with this one. I carry mine everyday and if the light goes on in your pocket its user error. I have had mine for almost 3 years and its never happened. I do like the mechanical lock out on this instead of the electronic lock out.

I find deep carry pocket clips are harder to get the flashlight out. If you dont want your flashlight or knife to show just carry it in your pocket. With a little stcking out it gives you something to grab. Thats just my opinion.

The magnetic charging is retarded tho. I’ve had 2 as well as a nebo that uses the same charger. If you are doing anything besides lighting up your morning walk, ferrous shit gets in and around it and messes with the charging, and eventually it just stops working, even with cleaning it all the time. When are you going to review the EDC-23? I’ve watched all the other reviews on YT, but they’re weak af.. no thermal measurements, no time measurements of the high output modes to tell us, for example, how long that flashlight will stay in the high 1000smth mode, before it gets to hot and steps down, if that’s the case; if it stays for one minute in the high mode and after that it steps down to 200 lumens, then it’s just a fancy, overpriced 200 lumen flashlight. For those reasons, please review this flashlight 🙏

Such an interesting light, but not for me. The "4" in the IPX54 rating just won't do it for me. Just look at the recent Hurricane Helene footage if there is any doubt, that if one really, really, needs a light, it had better be more water resistant. It could be the display as a weak point (especially in the drop rating) but I bet they did not bother to seal the port. Even mobile phone manufacturers finally figured out that was a no-no. My Kindle Oasis eInk reader is more waterproof than that flashlight. The other factor that would keep from experiencing this light is there is no moonlight. The "ultralow" is a really useful light level, but I still need a moonlight for the middle of the night. As for the built-in battery, one just has to accept that it will probably eventually be a disposable light. Unfortunate, and I would not stock up, but if you want that nice flat design that is most likely what one is going to get. If economics or environment rules that out look at a different shape. Possibly a side by side 18650, but that might be rather wide. Before the days of LEDs I had a little BSA (Boy Scouts) tan metal flashlight with a red plastic top with a flip on "switch" that ran on side by side AA batteries. I used that for years.

This light is basically a toy due to the IPX rating. There's no excuse for this in a tactical duty tool. When someone's life or safety might be on the line, this thing is a liability.

Just ordered this. But when it levels down from turbo, what level does it go down to?
@Roxlimn13 күн бұрын
That level of mounting on the clip suggest that this is a belt clip or a molle carry. Also, this is NOT a 1200 lumen flashlight. To be fair, the majority of the market claims to be selling 1000+ lumen flashlights, but aren't actually selling a light that can sustain that lumen output. Nitecore is being a little more honest than usual when they don't put runtimes on the Luminshield and Search modes on this light. However, the High mode also isn't sustainable on any of their EDC lights. This isn't a design issue. It's a technology issue. We do not yet possess technology that can dissipate the heat from producing that many lumens with bodies this small. The EDC29 is more of a 400-600 lumen light, with two burst modes, and a short-duration 1200 lumen mode. It's a very useful light at the bleeding edge of what's technologically possible at this time, but it's not a 1200 lumen light. To be fair, very few people actually need sustained 1000 lumen lights.
@mr.sphlictor964911 күн бұрын
Yeah I have the mt2a pro and I honestly don’t see a reason to have anything more than this as a regular civilian. The higher lumen burst could be great for self defense and scaring away wild animals though. That’s the only reason why I want the light. Or if I need to turn night into day time for a couple of seconds for safety reasons.
@Roxlimn11 күн бұрын
@mr.sphlictor9649 It's good for scaring away dogs. The Search function reaches out quite far - good for reading dark signages from far away. The Mt2a pro will still be the "working" light.
