They intentionally went with anime characters all westerners know/ grew up with like sailor moon, Pokemon, DBZ & the most important ones for Japan like Astro Boy, Doraemon & a representation of Miyazaki most know like Totoro. Still in this day and age so many youtube channels reacting & memes they easily could have included Luffy from One Piece, Naruto, Saitama, Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Attack on Titan, All Might or Deku from My Hero Academia, Yami Yugi, Detective Conan & probably Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, Alucard, Kenshin (Samurai X), Guts from Berserk, Kenshiro. Besides Yugioh, Shin-chan & Gundams are also as recognizable internationally by non-anime watchers as cartoons from their youth.

@@dianaballsepulveda Good question. I meant Alucard from Hellsing, but maybe current generation know the Castlevania one more because it's on Netflix? Videogame was ok. They showed many popular ones (non-anime, so no pokemon). Could have went for Final Fantasy, Fortnite, Overwatch, Splinter Cell & God of War I guess. Throw in Kindom Hearts too. Why did they add Carmen Sandiego? Cartoon: too many to name: Fairly Odd Parents? Samurai Jack? Adventure Time? My Little Pony? American Dragon? Totally Spies? All these can provide easy to make quotes.
