I maybe wrong but, nowdays people do engineering for jobs rather than exploring science and technology. Because if you love science and technology then there is less pain and more enjoyment in that process. This is the reason why India files less patents of new inventions. Also all selected students are unique (some are fish, some are bird, some are elephants, some are etc). They should understand themselves that they are here in life for different purpose. I realised it, and also realised that I don't know what I want to do. So I choosen to travel and explore myself and india. Nowdays I am travelling India district wise on my cycle. @@CrispyCoir mushkil hai, not going to lie. 3rd year will be very very difficult. LOT of labs + subjects + projects and internship season (which is very bad for core branches) But don't worry. If you make it out of 3rd year sane, you will definitely get placed in 4th year, don't worry about that, lot more companies come.

There are selection rounds after mains You get college there. Then you go to that college with seat acceptance letter and with documents. They check documents and register you. That's it.
