As an avid mono white player and lover of specific tutors, the fact that Ranger of Eos has 2 toughness instead of 3 like Ranger-Captain means it's great when paired with Recruiter of the Guard! So much value, so much card advantage, and things get even crazier once blink spells or skullclamp get involved.

I'm glad you guys started with White. I have been playing magic since almost as long as i can remember and as much as I love the color it always seems to come up short on its own. Def the weakest of the color wheel imo. Glad to have this tech to add to my strats when dabbling in white.

@@NitpickingNerds it’s a weird one, nethroi rat storm. It’s a rat colony deck that uses thrummingstone or self mill effects to get out most if not all of the rats out of my deck and into play in one turn. The artifacts and enchantments I do have in the deck are super important for the deck to work though, so multiple eternal witness style effects are necessary.

A lot of these cards are really good in Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle. He's so underrated himself, a realy good artifact commander if you're bored of those blue/red artifact decks.

The combos are fast to execute, they don't take long. Also you can easily tune down your by taking out some of the best tutors, sac outlets and most expensive cards.

Just wanted to say Thank You for this video. I hadn’t seen the Ranger of Eos card before. It also helped my knowledge of the game on the CMC cost where X is in the casting cost. My first thought when I saw this card was Stonecoil Serpent. It would certainly tutor this and many other powerful cards.

X spells are a weird little critter... X is equal to zero everywhere but on the stack, and on cast. There are some exceptionally interesting things you can do to take advantage of, or disrupt, these cards, as a result. Magic also treats zero as an even number... Which can be a tricky little bit of information to put a bit of a think around, as well. A good EDH deck plays the commonly known avenues competently. A great deck is one that understands weird corner cases, and then forces everyone else to understand them or lose for their ignorance of the game.

One of the great things Nitpicking Nerds and others do is help all of us find these cards that sometimes get lost in the 10's of thousands but can be very powerful cards. This was a great episode for sure

@@jonathanreed4994 my trick for tracking down oddball pieces is to drop into Gatherer's Advanced Search, and use the "Card Text" search, using the zones or mechanics I'm looking to interact with as search terms, and narrowing with relevant colors or card types. There's a lot of sifting involved, but, in the end, it really let's you find your best-fit pieces.

Honestly I love all that you do with the list of commanders, the secret tech, but the upgrades are the best. This year the commander decks were better than usual, and I'd suggest going through some of the other older ones like the mono blue terfari and what you'd recommend for those. I dont follow them 100% but do the majority with some more expensive upgrades, maybe upgrade those without a budget or a bigger budget. And welcome back from vacation disclaimer guy.

I think Angelic Ascension is pretty subpar. I found that the 4/4 flying token ends up being way more relevant in practice than a 3/3 from a Generous Gift.

A 4/4 flying creature is HIGHLY relevant in non-combo casual EDH. Only in a cEDH pod do you look at a 4/4 flyer and go, "that's irrelevant, I'm about to combo out the win next turn."

I have a few other gems in white that I have underestimated. But imagine this your Plainswalker is about to take lethal damage and you have a Together Forever on the field. All you have to do is pay 1 and Boom it is safely in your hands ready to play next turn. And Together Forever is played in less than 1% of decks on EDHREC. I also play it in my Ghave sports deck to save my fungus. Also other white cards that have mostly slipped under the radar might be, mandate of peace (to stop craterhoof turns, etc), equal etreament (same logic but it also it draws you a card), Martyr's Cause (good sac outlet). I've got tons of these. I love white and black.

One of my favorite secret tech cards and is in only 58 decks on edhrec is Confessor. He works really great with effects that let you draw cards when you gain life

Angelic Ascension royally blew up in my face once. I removed a planeswalker (which gave them a 4/4 angel token) but my roommate had a Brudiclad, Telchior Engineer, which could then turn his Servo's into an angelic host. It was a mistake I will not make again

Not too secret, but Hour of Reckoning is an auto-include one-sided board wipe for any token deck. You tap your non-token creatures that will die anyways to lower the cost, then destroy all non-token creatures for just 3 white.

Not a big fan of bounty agent because of the summoning sickness. unless u play it early it’s gonna be hard for it to survive long enough to stop that combo player or Stompy player. I think it would be better if you could just pay mana into it right away as soon as it enters and sacrifice it like the ones that bring a card from your graveyard to your hand
