"Do decks in EDH really try to win by attacking?" Yes. This question makes me appreciate my casual play group/meta more than ever. I do NOT want to play in a competitive combo oriented meta. It would ruin the format for me. I intentionally build ALL of my decks to power level 6 and avoid infinite combos, although a couple of members of my playgroup have started to stick infinite 2 card combo win conditions in their decks........it's a slippery slope.

Hi guys, Congrats on 10k! I thought that it was interesting (and please take this as constructive criticism cos I care) that you dismissed Ghostly Prison, Sphere of Safety et al as "traps" that you shouldn't play, as you play near CEDH level. Of course, most people dont, and play creature heavy/focused decks. Yes, combo decks are also prevalent at lower power levels (I know, I have a mixture of decks that are combo or creature oriented) but it seemed to me to be a mistake to dismiss an entire branch of cards, just because they dont work in your meta, whereas for a lot of people they could be a powerhouse. Cards like GP and SoS can literally shut down decks, thereby giving me the time to set of MY combos. 😁 Anyway, my Tuvasa Enchantress deck plays a lot of pillowfort and hate cards. A few of the cards in there that you didnt mention include: CHOKE (absolutely brutal against blue decks) Aura of Silence Solemnity Wheel of Sun and Moon Now, I know that a lot of people wont agree with this, but I think cards like Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe are ACTUALLY hate cards, with a fantastic ability tacked on. What I mean is this; these cards are actually a way of forcing (if they play it properly) other players to tap mana to prevent the card ability triggering (a tax if you will) thereby reducing the mana and weakening their play. This is why players literally hate "paying" the 1/2/3/4, cos it not only buggers up their turn but accelerates yours... Anyway, this was a brilliant choice of video for me, as I'm just brewing a Yarsharn, Implacable Earth HateBOAR deck! (I'll get my coat...)

If people don't make decks that have a way out of stax pieces (excluding hard locks like Stasis) and choose to sit down with a stax player then it's on them to upgrade their decks rather than complain that there deck has been hosed out of the game.

While I like all of these cards I try not to play more than a few per decks because I like my opponents to have fun after all that is the point of commander to me you guys must play in a only spell slinger combo meta seems like your constantly saying no one wins through combat damage which isn’t the case in many games I’ve played in great video

Yeah it's not about building only stax decks, but sometimes you want to pack some hate for a strategy or two

Introduction: who cares about attacking. Second card they show: I like Remorseful Cleric because it has evasion. What's evasion going to do if attacking is apparently the worst thing to do?
@NitpickingNerds4 жыл бұрын
We don’t like attacking as a go-to win condition. People still attack all the time lol
@ruudvanlaarhoven57764 жыл бұрын
Which you can leverage into advantage as the game goes on. Ghostly Prison gives you time to play your deck exactly because people don't want to pay if they can attack someone else for free. Your meta might be about stopping more combo's than combat, but attacking should not be completely discarded as a way to win the game, every 2/2 you can discourage to attack you, means they need to spend 2 more mana on a lethal Exsanguinate or other stumbled upon late game wincon. It's made for longer games, in which you can play more elaborate gameplans, personalizing the experience of 100 card singleton, which I'd like to think of being a big reason to play commander.

I don’t mind playing staxxy decks full of hatebears, but i’m seeing this trend where the dudes that play them, that’s their only deck. Then they show up alone to FNM and wonder why things are so awkward. Like cool 3k dollar mono white deck, you couldn’t have peeled off a hundred bucks for literally anything else? My week sucks, I don’t want to grind every game into the dirt.

Any aggressive, boros wins by playing hatebears as creatures. Slow your opponnent down since you wont be ramping haha.

I have an Urza, High lord Artificer Stax Edh deck, so I run quite a lot of these. Nothings better than after everyone taps out, playing stasis and frozen aether, and then everyone forfeiting LOL

Karn can get back your combo piece from exile in a combo deck. Rarely needed but occasionally playable for that reason. Light of Day is my pet hate card. Until just very recently mono black had no way to deal with this at all for the most part. Drop it against the rat deck, watch them make 500 rats that can't attack or block. My other super pet tech hate card is Trespasser's Curse, because there's a Krenko deck in my meta and it also stops Animar infinite creature based combos or any other Kikki Jikki type infinite creature combo. Man, I hate your "power level 8 to 9" meta. Imagine playing in a meta where Xenagos is unplayable because if you kill one person the next person combos off and wins the game. Frankly you are in a cEDH meta, just one where people don't have the money to buy the cards to totally optimize their decks 100%.
