It's better to be over packed then not have what you need. Things can go wrong and you may end up staying more than the usual time. I ended up staying five days in the hospital due to complications and I was so glad I over packed. Positive thoughts and energy for a safe and easy delivery💜

My bag is somewhat packed but seeing this you have helped me to finish my bag. I'm 38 weeks, 2 weeks away from my due date and so far 1cm dilated so it could be any time but i do need to finish my bag. I have the car seat ready sitting on the couch and got my car detailed today, nails, toes and eyebrows done so just waiting..... Hope to see you and baby boy soon have a blessed and safe delivery.

rebeca S My hospital has like 10 light switches in the birthing sweets. I kept on the bathroom light and the light over the sink outside of the bathroom on and it was enough for me to see and get up to feed at night. But you're right every one can be different!

Nitra you did great packing for a first time mom! I work at a hospital in the labor and delivery department and I've seen moms bring it all. Just a tip, you might not want to wear your own gown to deliver in. TMI but literally every body fluid (blood, amniotic fluid, poop) can get on it and you will end up throwing it away. But the ones you have are so cute and will be great for right after delivery

You got everything in that one bag!! I had like 3 different bags smh. You did good. I would recommend a sundress or a t-shirt dress something loose. You never know the comfort level you're going to have with wearing jeans/leggings. I can't wait to see the baby! I'm excited for you & Colton!

I'm praying for a smooth delivery for you. Preparation is key. From a mom 2x - I was praying for my first to be born on the 15th of July and she didn't com until the 23rd of July. I was eating spicy food to get her out and a whole lot of other stuff and she didn't come until 8 days later (the frustration). Nothing is too much when you're expecting your first child - I was prepared and expecting her sooner than when she came. She still gets on my nerves and she's 21 years old and graduating from college in May - still stubborn! Ha! I was told by my mom that the first can be stubborn to come - but, my prayers are for baby Uriah to give you a smooth homecoming! Blessings, Anitra - you're going to be a great mom!

Btw, for everyone who is thinking about breastfeeding: please read my testimony! please do not give up! It takes a lot of patience and the nurses and lactation consultants might not give you the help you need. They literally had me crying rivers of tears! My son was very sleepy when he was born and he would not eat as often as he should have during our hospital stay. He would only latch to one side, because my other nipple was significantly flatter than the other. He lost weight and didn't have a lot of poopy diapers, which led him to have a little bit of jaundice. His eyes were turning a little yellow and the whole time I felt like the lactation consultants were attacking and yelling at me like I was doing something wrong. When I left the hospital, I immediately got my sister over (She is a breastfeeding guru y'all) and she taught me to have patience with him and that him losing weight was not abnormal. She talked to me and made sure he was latched correctly. She even taught me how to breast pump and how to get my milk to come in. Sometimes all you need is the right people around you. My son was still only eating from one side but in a week he gained a whole pound and got rid of the jaundice! After a few more days of crying, my aunt taught me a trick to get him to eat from the other side that had the flatter nipple. Once he started eating from it, it was no longer flat! It just takes time and patience. It's going to hurt and it may be hard at first, but trust me. It gets better! God bless to all of the soon to be moms!

Sylvia Matthews Great testimony. Some women do try and it just doesn't work for them. I had a friend who tried and tried but she couldn't get it. She might have "gave up" as you put it but She just knew that her baby being fed was the most important thing. I'm all for breastfeeding but women if it doesn't work don't worry yourself crazy or starve your baby due to the pressure of society. Formula is there for a reason. ❤

Allison Riley I'm not saying that women who ended up not breastfeeding gave up. I'm saying if that's what you want for you baby then don't give up so quickly. I know plenty of moms who didn't breastfeed because they chose not to or because they physically couldn't. I'm not saying giving formula to your baby is wrong. I'm simply encouraging those that want to breastfeed not to give up if it is a little frustrating at first. Sometimes it just takes a little patience and the right support.

Tell us about the trick your aunt I told you! Both mine are pretty flat but I have a flatter nipple on one side. I want to try bf but I'm worried about the baby not latching and being a young ftm I know the hospital and lactation consultant might put me in the same position you were in.. I don't know anyone who bf so I need all the advice I can get

childkc I’m just now seeing your comment. I hope I’m not too late! She told me to lean back at an angle and let him try to latch that way. The normal breastfeeding positions wouldn’t work but when I tried that, he instantly latched. Also, if your nipples are a little flat try to use a breastpump to pull them out a bit then let your baby try. Another trick I found was to hold my boob like a “sandwich” and hold the babies head with my other hand and when he opened his mouth, I would quickly shove as much boob as possible into his mouth. It sounds harsh, but it’s not lol

I gave birth at a hospital with my first son, my second was at a birthing Center. The best experience ever! They gave me popsicles & ice during labour. All the best luv!💕💕

Yes you did go over the top and we all do. The only thing that I would such suggest is some flip-flops. This way when you're in the shower you don't have to step in the shower barefoot you can wear some water proof flip-flops and you'll be just fine. Anitra, I am not sure if you have one , but a birth plan is important to have as well; even though it might not go as planned it helps hospital staff help you better. Also, having a few inspirational quotes or bible verses that encourage you proved to be extremely helpful for me. Just having those positive affirmations and repeating them out loud or mentally, helped me have a natural delivery. Birthing is hugely a mental experience, as it is physical. Consider not being alone with just your partner! Having 1 or 2 additional people who are positive, knows the type of birth you want and who will encourage and empower you is really helpful. They could take turns massaging you etc... if your partner is tired at least you'll have someone else to help tend to your needs, without him feeling guilty!! Wishing you a safe delivery love!!

also on the side of my hospital bag I slid in some bags (for dirty clothes). for baby as well. I just used grocery plastic bags so that my clothes that were clean could stay separate
