They’re casually sending quad whips/1080s/double flips/front flip variations. BMX has come quite a long way in the last few years. Those used to be automatic show-stopping competition-winning tricks. Now they’re sending them mid run.

@@DB-cu4hn I've seen amateurs in person who would have won the X games in the 90s. Absolutely insane how high the bar has gotten. Makes it even crazier to think Morgan Wade has stayed competitive all these years considering he's been around since the early 00's

As Pastrana said some time ago. The progression of extreme sports over the last 10-15 years is absolutely mental! I love to see that every year these guys come back and every year they do something that drops my jaw. I can't wait to see quad backflip. With variations. Respect!

Genius cameraman. The first jump and he's so busy shooting the crowd (yeah, that's what we want to see) that we pretty much miss the first jump and then the camera angle is so bad we essentially miss the whole thing for the first rider. Like I said, very clever camera work. Please continue this awesome work.

Even the last place finisher would be considered a legend and alien to us the riders from the early early 70’s. I lived in So Cal and road with the best OG bike and skate boarders on earth. Before helmets, computers, social media or the internet. The progression is sick! You all rock!

Man this shit it just so nuts, it's one thing to do these tricks, it's another to do them so quickly one after another. When I ride downhill and there are sections where you have jump after jump with very little time in between it's very challenging since you have very little time to 'gather yourself' after you land one jump, balance yourself correctly and push off the right way for the next one. Rapid fire jumps AND performing these awesome tricks is just next level riding.

I would say cause of second jump backflip. But still in my opinion bike flip and quad whip alone should score more than 73 and bike flip was extended to the point he almost couldn't catch it + he landed all 3 jums clean. I'm bummed. I was putting him in late 80's and when I saw 73 I was thinking - WTF?

It’s wild that more people aren’t drawn to these kinds of sports. There’s no sport that is this physically demanding while being so spectacular to watch. The dedication of these guys to their craft is amazingly admirable. These guys have me audibly saying “what the fuck” with a mouthful of pad Thai while I’m sitting in my car. I’ve never participated in any extreme sports (unless you count bunny hopping 2” off the ground) but it’s still easy to appreciate what I’m seeing, even without knowledge of the nuances.
@snapgab Жыл бұрын
I think part of it is just that people don't like jury sports, where who wins or loses is so unclear and subjective, which I think is totally fair and understandable. I kind of have that too TBH, I love watching videos of action sports athletes, but I'm much less inclined to watch entire competitions, because the judges being the ones who decide who wins through some opaque and arbitrary standard just takes the tension away, in terms of watching competitions I prefer sports with a very clear winner and loser.
@MattLemonsackMusic Жыл бұрын
@@snapgab That’s a good point that I hadn’t considered. I just think of it like I’m watching a hockey game with 2 strong teams I’m not invested in. I watch hockey bc it’s a sick entertaining sport, and the outcome is secondary. I don’t really care who wins these, I just wanna see some peak performance in an awesome sport. You are right, though. It’s easier to market someone as a champion & create storylines with that. That’s tougher to do when victories can be so nuanced.

Almost all of these 'Cashroll' callouts weren't cashrolls though. Also the callout on Toohey's and Martin's "Frontflip Bike Flip" is incorrect, they do a "Front Bike Flip". The Frontflip Bikeflip is another trick where the person actually also makes a frontflip with the bike. Other than that, very epic competition!
