I actually remember the Natural Disaster Survival app and I played that more than the actual Roblox App lol. I'm glad that there's actual proof and confirmation that it was an official thing that actually existed because for the longest time I thought I was crazy and just made it up.

@3n3j0t4 the other game i remember playing was this sci-fi game on the moon where you played as these moon knights fighting off and protecting a castle from aliens. i don't remember the name, but i think it had Astro in the name? it was pretty popular for a time, enough to get that app, but it just got forgotten at some point

another thing that makes this game appealing is that it's always one of the first games to incorporate new roblox mechanics/features (e.g. layered clothing, vc, the weird freaky moving faces, etc.). this makes it one of my favorite games to test outfits and avatars in

One of my maps features in Natural Disaster Survival (the Lucky Mart map - I dont think it's very good but it was made to mimic the classic roblox building style haha) Another fun fact I actually created the Tsunami survival genre back at the start of 2011 with my Can You Survive a Tsunami? game which was an edit of Ajedi's disaster survival free model kit! It blew up in popularity in February in the #1 slot for 3 weeks running (about 500 CCU at the time) until it was taken down on March 11 due to holding similarity to the Tohoku Tsunami that hit japan mere weeks after its inception. It achieved ~500,000 visits in 3 weeks which was very impressive for the era

For me it's especially nice that the game barely has anything to purchase, almost every game I play now (ESPECIALLY simulators) are absolutely littered with gamepass/currency purchases all over the floor and your UI, and they sometimes even give them as popups or try to pressure you by saying "you only have 1 MINUTE!!" sometimes I can barely see the game properly or it distracts me, and with simulators I have to literally bob and weave around all the buttons to avoid getting the annoying popups of "confirm purchase?"

Yes I agree exactly. My first game was floor is lava when I joined in 2018, but once I found nds a few days later, it became a staple. Weather you find a way to push your friends off the map, watch randos die trying to escape, or coming up with fun single player challenges, nds is one of the best games on the platform, and if I brought someone new to Roblox, this is where I’d bring them first. Nds will be here for a while.

Players stacks during thunderstorms! By far, the best memory I have in NDS. The highest my friends and I have gotten was around 4 or 5, but it was always a fun little side thing to do, and seeing someone getting struck always made it worth it. Really miss those days.

i think NDS is still popular despite receiving minimal updates is because it's simple, so new players can understand it, but it isn't so repetitive that you get bored of it easily i started playing roblox in september 2017 with NDS as my first game and i still play it sometimes when i'm bored

Natural disaster survival is my second favourite Roblox game even though it has practically been the same for years but I think the reason why is because if it’s simplicity, it is almost perfect the only bad thing about it is that it has way to OP game passes and that the weather machine replaced the double disaster but other than that it is a true classic game while still being one of the best games
