I heard the lore behind the place (from what can be gathered) is that the place that Alisa is in is a doll house that was once a mental institution where the head of the institution became obsessed with his studies toward an ancient artifact called the “Finger of God” which could turn people into monstrous forms of themselves and one of his patients that he used in his experiments became a monster that was bent on turning every person he saw into a doll using the artifact’s power. The institution fell underground due to a sinkhole and the doll monsters started to threaten the people of the nearby town, causing most of them to flee to the cities (except for the old man that stayed who was actually the husband of the woman that was turned into the black doll that chases Alisa throughout the game). Alisa was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. Edit: Thanks for all the likes! I think this game was a work of art. Nitro Rad originally loved this comment but I had to correct a grammatical error I made and I lost it. Thanks though everyone!

Great Video Dude 🤘 2 Fun Facts 1) The game is a bit influenced by a 1988 Alice movie, directed by Jan Svankmajer (which you can find here on KZbin) 2) Two of the costumes are referenced to two of his other games
@karlhnedkovsky52144 ай бұрын
Yep! Though, as is with a lot of Svankmajer's movies/short films, you really have to go in, expecting weird shit, because it really does get absurdly bizarre at times, sometimes bordering on disturbing even! But behind all that, it's a pretty good time! I do especially love Svankmajer's style, in that despite all of the bizarre shit you'll see in his movies, there's never a single iota of cg/special effects! It's all done with props, sets and stop-motion! And let me tell you, that stop-motion is master-class! He really does find a way to blend it in with the live-action settings in a way, that keeps the flow and immersion going! Good stuff!

The "leave the room to despawn the chaser" problem, funnily enough, was something I encountered in the Ao Oni fangame community. A lot of fangames tied the despawning of the chaser to the number of rooms you enter, and players would just cheese every chase by rapidly exiting and entering rooms before the chaser can spawn into the room until the chase music eventually stops playing. It's why some fangames (including mine) ended up switching over to using a timer instead of counting the exiting/entering of rooms.

That one's for all the Blood Omen fans watching this, and I'm pretty sure you're out there, since you never really know when you're going to find an overlap between audiences. Hell, apparently there's an overlap between Civvie fans and Nitro Rad fans, highlighted by James' video on Slayers X. 20:38 is something that James went into more depth on his Twitter, since every frame in that delightful gremlinoid freakout was a golden moment, every last one worthy of a spot on the "Good Faces" Twitter.

If you're a fan of goofy horror, I'd recommend Voices of the Void. The game's premise is that you're a scientist living alone up at an isolated research site, processing signals from deep space. Eventually, things escalate to horror. The game runs in the source engine, which greatly elevated both the comedy and horror aspects of the game. When you hear a weird noise in the distance, you don't know if that noise is some monster of it it's just some props clipping into each other. It's also very funny that this horror game also has you doing a 9-5

And when I say "twice over", I mean replaying it twice with three full playthroughs both times! This was before my Switch was stolen by arsewipes mind you...but back when it could play it, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I think Alisa is paced very, very well. It does such a good job of being a survival experience on a first playthrough, but becomes a power fantasy on repeat playthroughs. To the point that this game necessitates multiple playthroughs in one given run of the game. The way the game rewards conservative play and encourages repeat playthroughs to unlock everything...as far as I'm concerned, a modern survival horror classic!

The main invisible threat adapts to how you play, and the game lets you play a selection of characters for each chapter but if one dies not only do they stay dead for the entire game, but they become ghosts that can harm you. The game does have janky mechanics but each playthrough is always different and its a fun ride.
