15:00 actually most personas have an element or attribute that they can’t inherit at all (usually it’s whatever they’re weak to, like Arsene can’t learn Bless or Isis can’t learn Curse) so that’s probably why you couldn’t get Bufu Edit: except for skill cards, those bypass the inheriting rules

To add to this: Physical attribute personas DON'T inherit "Offense" magic skills at all like the main elements. This means Fire, Ice, Wind, Electric, Light, and Dark. Bad Ailments are also not inheritable apparently (except Almighty like Megido line of magic can be inherited), if the inheritance rules are to be believed. I love that we basically had the same idea but luckily for different games :D I can definitely relate to the item grinding being the most tedious part of this whole thing, I got some slight PTSD just watching it. Also a slight note in case nobody else said it yet, most Personas can't inherit elemental attacks to the one they are weak to, like with Chimera and the ice weakness. Still great job so far, looking forward to part 2!

I have a tip that might cut a LOT of time spent in tartarus dodging shadows/finding a good angle so they don't aggro you: You can reset their pathing by pausing the game and unpausing, learned this while watching speedruns of the game :)

I don't mind Fatigue. You get a fair bit of time in Tartarus before Minato gets tired, and when he does, that's just free Courage from the Nurse plus the possibility of getting put in Great Status via toilet. I'm not complaining about free Social Stats that take up none of your time.

@@oliver6969 as a rule the manga gets to do whatever it wants and the anime name is *generally* treated as canon, which sometimes causes some consternation. In particular, P5's protagonist was named "Kurusu Akira" by the manga and "Amamiya Ren" by the anime, which has gone on to be his canonical name, and when it initially happened quite a few western fans were pretty unhappy since they liked Akira better (I'm also in this camp because the kanji reading suits him better than "Amamiya" but it's really a subjective thing). A side effect of this is that until 2014, the female protagonist from P3P had no name (you'll sometimes see her referred to as "Hamuko" which has a relatively complex backstory that's too big to go into in a YT comment), and her canonical name "Shiomi Kotone" comes from a freaking stageplay.

nice video! i was actually thinking about attempting a similar challenge like this myself, but on hard mode. probably won't be mandatory battles only because hard mode is hard (lol) and how level factors into damage/accuracy/evasion in this game. more of a "low level" or "minimum exp" run if anything. this might make for a good resource to use as reference for when i get around to it.

If you go to the nurse enfermary while you are fatigued, you can get free courage points and going in the toilet can make you better, and being honest grinding is sorta desnecessary sometimes, most of the times te best way is some weird strategy you aren't seeing, most likely charm out of all things, or ghastly wailing the strenght boss.

15:00 this is incredibly late, but Chimera can't inherit Bufu from Forneus because it's restricted from learning Ice magic. generally speaking, personas won't learn magic that they are weak to, especially the earlier personas.

I guess the way exp gain is calculated in the game makes it a bit easier to keep up, since if youre underleveled, you get more exp to catch you up, which i guess they made it that way so you dont have to stick to one party the whole game in a normal playthrough.

since you had no issue with Priestess whatsoever, I don't think you should fuse Apsaras yet until you beat her, that way you still had your Orpheus and Pixie intact, and they're both already leveled. Also, I checked the Calculator. And... Chimera cannot inherit Magic, including Ice. Makes sense since Chimera's also weak to Ice, but if you see that a Persona can't inherit certain skills, don't bother trying. Though the 20% Odds and 300% Odds are the much more annoying ones when it comes to P3's Fusion Inheritance Values *cough*Thanatos*cough*

Oh right. Since this is a Part 1 and Nyx is likely long while off, I should mention that there’s a different glitch for screwing with Nyx Avatar that I’m pretty sure only works for the original P3 and hopefully FES (MoogleBoss apparently tried it in Portalble, nada). Basically if you complete one of Nyx Avatar’s phases by causing an element break and beating him with his usual immunity, the fight breaks and Nyx Avatar starts killing turns doing absolutely nothing for the remainder of the boss battle. Should make the fight monumentally easier. There’s a clip of it floating around Tumblr where the player caused an Ice Break and Mitsuru landed her execution for the KO.

A few other tips to avoid Shadows in FES: - opening the status menu will force Shadows to turn - running up stairs or otherwise going on platforms will cause Shadows to lose sight of you - if you get into one encounter, afterwards there will be a bit of time (like a few seconds) before other shadows can notice you, so you can use this opportunity to run past them or chain player advantage (even if you hit them from the front, if they don't get startled by you, you always get player advantage) Maybe these will be useful later in the run :)

To be honest, this run may teach me that there's a lot more EXP in P3 than i thought. I always felt that you get less EXP here compared to the future games even if you spammed getting the Wand on Shuffle Time every time, but 20s in this point of the game, kind of halfway compared to 20s to 30s in Persona 4 made me question that.

There is actually a better way to grind the floors, if you stand there and tell your party to split up no enemies will spawn and the party will find the stairs also the reason why ice wouldn't transfer over is cause some personas can't learn certain skills

I believe if an Enemy uses Tetrakarn, you can Rush to override your party just waiting, This may be useful in this future since Aigis Resists Pierce and thats her attack type. Amazing challenge video, hoping part 2 goes smoothly!

Love this! MoogleBoss had a minimum exp run of portable way back in the day that ultimately failed to beat nyx, the difference between that run and this is that they were free to farm golden hands as well as the portable changes. I've been labbing a 0 tartarus bad ending run also in portable for a while now, but I've never been able to get past hanged man and his akasha arts ^_^. You'd think not fighting tartarus bosses would make it easier but I'm not farming chests so there's no way to get the powerful battle items

This is a double challenge considering that you can't directly control your party members like in p4. But on the other hand the game itself is easier, I think. When I played Portable version I mostly solo-ed it with the main character as over leveling him while the rest of the party is searching on their own ended up being the most fun way for me to play. :)
