A little tip for those facing Kamoshida on Merciless: use Rakunda to lower his defense and Tarunda to lower his attack, the lowered defense is crucial and allows you to actually do enough damage to get the crown. I had to get crafty and fused Pyro Jack w/Pixie to get Bicorn then Bicorn and Pixie to get Slime w/Rakunda and Tarunda. That is what I did: I explicitly used Joker for debuffing Kamoshida, getting shots in if I could, meanwhile Ann and Ryuji laid on the damage. EDIT: I even took a chance and used Tarukaja on Ann w/ Ryuji and thankfully I still managed to do enough damage to get the crown.

aw yeah, my man Shiki-Ouji. I keep that persona for the rest of the game. Also, it's good that Insta-Kill (Ryuji 7) got patched in Royal, in the first game, it awarded no exp, money or persona. meaning that Rank 7 was a heavy debuff.

This looks like the much easier version of the "slacker" challenge i made for myself... It has the same limitations on social stats, but i also had to use menus as little as possible, never fuse personas unless i'm forced to, and never advance social links, unless needed for the true ending... In short, i had to do the absolute minimum amount of things i could, and use as little of the mechanics the game gave me! I also had to beat the game at as low a level i possibly could. Just think the opposite of a 100% run if you will...

This is essentially the Yoker playthrough I've been wanting to run. You only do things that count as physical activities and hang out with people who do physical activities. Going full gym bro. So work out in room, go to the gym, play baseball, run with Ryuji, hang with kasumi, grind in palaces and momentos, hang out with Caroline and Justine (strength arcana + they have you go to the Gym in one of their hangout sessions) and that's pretty much it. Just get swoll and go.

Hey do you think Merciless difficulty in P5R is worth it? Is it too frustrating or is it manageable? I have seen people saying that normal difficulty is too easy in this game. Merciless also seems like a better pick than Hard since you gain more exp and the 3x Techincal creates high risk/high reward situations.

Merciless difficulty is a unique way to play the game, but not the best way if it's your first couple times. I recommend sticking with Normal on your first playthrough and New Game Plus playthrough, and only go harder once you have an understanding of the game's mechanics, technical attacks, and prior knowledge of where to get the most level ups and buffs, and what confidants to rank up for efficiency. And while Merciless does give you a double-edged sword with the 3x attacks, the harder the difficulty, the less EXP and money you'll gain. Unless you've played the entire game before, I recommend staying on Normal difficulty or otherwise grinding will be a necessity. Without any prior knowledge, Merciless can be very frustrating.

@@NitsuaGamer Actually in Royal, merciless gives you more exp and money, not less. I doubt youll ever need to grind in merciless now as a result, making it perfect for NG and NG+ runs if you want that challenge. Tbh Its the only difficulty I play on these days.

Only Maruki's confidant is required to unlock the third semester. Maxing out Akechi and Kasumi just extends their storylines, but are not required to unlock the third semester.

I was looking around to see if anyone else had done a ridiculous P5R challenge run. I've been planning a "Required fights only" Run which also limits how far you can go with many of the confidants. While confidants for my run will be blocked because we can't fight the OPTIONAL mementos shadows, here it's because you're too cowardly, not hot enough or you're too stupid. And of course you're level grinding while I won't be able to do that, haha. Interesting to see by restricting yourself by not engaging with a certain aspect of the game just locks you out of the best confidant bonuses in most cases.
