With all due respect, Nitzer Ebb's first single was in Jan 1985. At that stage Depeche Mode had released 4 albums and 10 UK top 20 singles. I will concede however that the nascent industrial scene of the mid-late 80s strongly influenced DM's work in the 1986-1990 period and this darkness has persisted in their sound to this day.

Nitzer Ebb formed in 1982 and while they were never as popular as DM I never judge the quality of a band on their popularity. To this day "That Total Age" is still amongst my most loved albums of all time.

Well I don’t know much of the music, just a few songs I’ve been listening to on YT, but wow, Douglas - “Baby, come to Daddy.” - if you said that to me when I was younger, I would have had no hesitation in going to you!! As well as being a great singer, Douglas definitely has something that people comparing NE to Depeche Mode just can’t see. Depeche Mode’s music never inspired me, it is cold and loveless - Martin Gore’s songs never did it for me, I like love songs - and Doug McCarthy definitely sings them with passion boiling over. If you can’t see that and keep comparing to their contemporary band at the time, you really need to look harder. Only looked at a few songs - Ascend being one of them, and I Give to You and I can see just how talented Nitzer Ebb, with Doug McCarthy as their frontman, are. My cup is not full, I will have to listen more. My cup of sweets, Douglas. ❤️ You are a heart-throb. ❤️xxxx

@ Adriann: Not in the slightest! They are same race, but thats about it. Falco was pretty ugly - lol. Douglas is much better looking. He has another body type, naturally light hair and a much wider facial bone structure. Falco would be the last person on earth I would think of when I'm looking at Douglas.
