You have to chalk up the win to team chemistry, scheming and fundamentals. NIU coaches put their team in a position to win and the players executed the plays. You have to believe that pound for pound, ND has a more talented program, but NIU played smart and to their full potential that game. Well done!

Will they though? Who is actually holding them accountable? The people that could do so need the biggest brands to be winning and relevant to make the most money. Fans complaining about it makes no difference at all. At the end of the year it would be ESPN's worst nightmare to have underdogs in their college football playoff and the powers that be will do everything in their power throughout the season to make sure that doesn't happen and the biggest brands are in the playoff. I wish it were different. Do we really think NIU is a top 25 team? They needed to rank them that high so that Notre Dame wouldn't fall any further than they did in the poll. Having said that I would love for NIU to run the table and be the group of five representative in the playoff.
