Just built this guy and won my first game with him today, he's a blast! Came back from 2 life. Don't count out creature pingers that deal damage when you play noncreature spells, those get a LOT of value when niv comes out and you can play quite a few in the early game since most of them are 2-3 mana. It also helps you avoid killing yourself with all the group slug enchantments.
