NJ Devils Lose Season Finale To NY Islanders 4-1

The New Jersey Devils lost their final game of the season, falling to the New York Islanders by a score of 4-1 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
The NY Islanders are playoff bound, the NJ Devils are golf bound.
It is going to be a long and painful Summer for sure.

Was there tonight to witness the ultimate apotheosis of this entire season. Thank you so much for all and looking forward to upcoming content. Lots of time to fill! Started watching Devils in March last year as a distraction from parental caregiving, after having moved back to NJ. While friends were watching baseball (yawn) and basketball (also yawn), another screen at the bar one time had the hockey on and I noticed TIMO MEIER, and something about him and his skating, and was forever changed. 😊 LGD!

It’s no shock the Devils did not make the playoffs. Look at the trend they’ve followed since the team moved to New Jersey. In 1988, they made the playoffs for the first time in team history and made it all way to the conference finals until they fell to Boston. Next season in 1989 they did not make the playoffs. In 1995, the Devils won the teams first Stanley Cup in team history with an impressive sweep over the President Trophy winning Detroit Red Wings but in the 1996 season they failed to qualify for the playoffs. Now we fast-forward to this season. Last season, in 2023, the team set a franchise record for most wins and points. Then a first first round knockout of the Rangers, to not even making the following year. It appears the Devils trend a great season, followed by a crappy season. Hopefully the trend continues and they make the playoffs as they should the next several years.

Tonight’s game was the sum of the season. Team was lazy, soft and our play in the defensive zone sucked all around. Allen’s Devils season ended like it started. Allowing a goal on the first shot of the game….12 minutes in, lol. Blow up the defense this off season. I don’t want to watch the same crap next year and if some of the weak links don’t get moved, we will see the same crap. Only thing my brain took in from the Fitz interview was that he is trying to resign MacDermid. Everything else is just hot air till I see moves made. Hopefully the injury plague is over. Congratulations on your first season of being a content creator. You did good and I enjoyed every show you made. I also enjoyed watching your subscriber count go up. Keep up the good work and I’ll continue watching as long as you keep making the videos. Back in the day when I was young, I didn’t have anyone that was a Devils/NHL fan to enjoy the seasons with or talk to about the games. I remember your first video last year around this time, and have been following the channel ever since. Great content and a welcome addition to the Devils family. I too have followed the team since 1994 ending in that crazy Rangers series. I agree that this year as a whole was the worst one since missing the playoffs after the 95 cup, maybe worse. This is going to be a huge summer for the team. If Fitz can get it right, this year will make the ride ahead all the sweeter! LGD!

Went to this game undercover in an Islanders retro jersey I got for dirt cheap just to be a clown as I cheered on the Devils. Made some Devils fans laugh in the process. Otherwise got myself a bucket hat during the 40% off sale they had at the Den and my friends won some giveaways. Was a fun time but the game itself was definitely not easy to watch.

Fitzgerald, was artificially propped up, with high draft picks. Yes, he made a few good moves, then proceeded to absolutely destroy the team with everything he *didn’t* do. How did he miss the most obvious needs, for MONTHS? His biggest mistake, aside from completely failing to grab a goaltender (over multiple seasons,) and not only keeping Lindy Ruff in the HC position, with a FAR better coach literally standing next to him, but attributing all of the teams success, to Ruff. Say what you I’ll about Brunette, but where he goes, teams WIN. He did an incredible job, with HALF the talent. I wish I felt more optimistic right now, but truth be told, I don’t. I have NO confidence in Fitzgerald, and I think what we saw from him *this*season, is who he really is, as a GM. I pray that I’m wrong. The second I hear that Travis Green is officially head coach (and we will,) I effing give up.

for next season, they need more depth and good D-core! in fact, there was only ONE consistent scoring line this season, that was the Hischier line, almost scoring in every game. (Hischier - Bratt - Palat / Hischier - Bratt - Meier) We shouldn't be too hard on this team. Jack looked injured and tired half of the season... Meier was not used the right way... Dougie out early... McLeod incident.... no consistent and good goaltending on NHL level... unfortunate. they have a lot of young talents like Mercer, Holtz, Hughes, Bahl, Nemec or even the "Utica guys"... there is potential ! so let's work on this in the offseason. I think Meier put it in the right context during the post game interview @Wachter. take the anger and disappointment and use it for strength and motivation now. so LGD, onto the next :) have a nice summer!

I hope youre doing well!, In a odd twist, the Drinks taste better with the Bitterness. Would it be odd though in a bright spark, I got some good feels about Meier potentially for next season? But i still want the whole team to Take a walk of shame on the Golf course And come back better. I dont want the 22/23 Devils coming back from there, they can ride into the sunset. and maybe stick fitzgerald in one of the holes and leave him there too , he can make his own way back xD.

Firing Lindy was a great idea. This team is f'd until Fitz and Harris/Blitzer js gone. No real coach will come to a team that doesn't even give them a full season after setting the franchise record. Lindy was the best coach for this team, and the team was completely uninspired after he was fired. Even with all the injuries and bad goaltending, he had them in the playoff race. P.S. Sharongovich had 30 goals this season and Toffoli is gone. FIRE FITZ! SELL THE TEAM!

100%!!! Firing Lindy was the end of the season, and possibly the franchise for now. Also, Zetterlund has 20 goals, and Timo is a dog who plays good when nothing is on the line. He got him and Tofolli, whoch was useless, and completely neglected goalie, leaving Lindy completely out to dry.
