I am looking at this now and what I am confused by is the start date. I am in the same situation you are in that I am trying to start an application before my child is actually born. But, what do I do if the child does not come on their due date? That little pop up you received said you cannot change the start date after you moved past that screen. So, what do you do if the baby comes lets say 2 days earlier?

Agree that this is the confusing part of the application. For me, I put my son’s expected birth date in. When I finished the application, I received a message from the state website that I needed to go back in within 7 days of his actual birth to put the actual birthdate in the system prior to benefits starting. I did this once he came to get the benefit payment from the state.

How we will receive this payment is it by a cheque and how long will it take to process ?
@FriendswithyourBenefits26 күн бұрын
NJ will send the funds on a debit card. It took me about a month to get the funds from the state after I submitted my application.

Hi..I didnt click to withheld 10 percent for federal income tax? Is that a problem now. Do i need to change them?
@FriendswithyourBenefitsАй бұрын
No- what will happen when you file for your federal tax return is that you may owe taxes on the NJ FLI payments then.

Can you be on FMLA and receive FLI at the same time? Looking to prep for when we try to get pregnant in 2026.
@FriendswithyourBenefits10 күн бұрын
Yes though note that FMLA is unpaid job protection and NJ FLI is paid leave Insurance.

@@FriendswithyourBenefits Understood. My potential job does not offer paternity leave so I'm looking into my options in the future.
