Yes, you see the percussion done on the body, which is an integral part of both flamenco and stepping... both have African roots. Spain and Portugal, together the Iberian penninsula, were ruled by Islamic Moors (Africans) for almost 8 centuries. Things tend to stick after such a long time. Which is why when ppl swear up n down that spaniards are "white", i giggle. They are, and they aren't. I encourage you to go check a live flamenco performance, it's DOPE. and you will see and hear the influences i mention here.
