It's awesome that they are basically brand new trains with those beautiful classic bodies. They are such a vibe to me. The rolling stock makes it one of my favorite American subway lines even though the trains look old.

PATCO definitely is not forgotten. It's very similar to PATH and owned by the Bridge Authority and ran between 2 states. Both sides have heavy connections. The pre-rebuilt PATCO cars were the best though, the newer ones feel different.

Forgotten in the sense where this is a channel primarily focused on the Philadelphia area transit, yet videos on PATCO are looked at as some foreign concept when in reality is part of the network but fans ignore it simply because it doesn’t have SEPTA logos. That’s why I said forgotten yet active. It’s forgotten by fans but deff not forgotten by the riders lol

Great video! 8th & Market Station is the most facinating to me because at on time the Broad Street Subway/Ridge Ave.Bridge Line Subway was the original PA. terminal for this line back when PTC (Philadelphia Transportation Company-"before SEPTA) ran it between 1936 and 1968. Septa made a new 8th Street Station for the Ridge Ave. Subway in 1968 when the DRPA (Delaware River Port Authority) took over the Bridge Line and it eventually became the PATCO High Speed Line. 8th & Market Street Station is the only point station in which all 3 Philly subway lines (The Broad St./Ridge Ave. Spur/ The Market-Frankford "EL" and the PATCO High Speed Line interchange.

I first rode PATCO in 1968 with my dad . Enjoyed every minute of that experience . Too bad it was never extended to University city ! Thanks for posting.

There is a new proposal as of this year to extend it to university city and then to 40th street. They are also reopening the Franklin Square station next year.

@@losh330 Over the years the Franklin Square station has been an "on again off again" thing. I heard that there is or maybe development around the square . Do you remember the Ridge Ave spur entered the 8th street stations lower level like PATCO through a junction just north of 8th ? Thanks for your reply.

@@rutheliz75 I don't remember that. I actually only lived in Philadelphia from 2011 to 2013. I love and miss some aspects of Philadelphia and the region so I keep up on what's happening there. Also I'm a rail transit fan and Philadelphia has a lot of history on that. The Franklin Square station is being renovated right now.

Our Path Train system is much more crowded than the Patco high speed line, to the point where I get anxious. As a railfan, I'd love to ride on that system one day. I've been wanting to for about 2 years.

Don't know what you're waiting for, it's easy to get to. Best railfan option is NJT to Trenton, change for the Riverline and take that to Walter Rand and change there for PATCO.

What a unique seating arrangement for rapid transit. I would have expected crappy plastic sideways seats, not a passenger train style setup.
