Nutty but brilliant. It actually works surprisingly well to explain the relative orbit sizes of the known planets. To Kepler's credit, he eventually abandoned this theory when it became clear that there was still a discrepancy with the accurate measurements of Tycho Brahe which he had been analysing.

Well-Done, great presentation of the what, why, how, where, who, context, intuition, etc. I was so sad you don't include the deviation too.

What is the source for your claim re Archimedes and Aristarchus?
@njwildberger

In the Sand Reckoner, Archimedes calculates the number of grains of sand required to fit the universe. To do this, he in fact assumes Aristarchus' heliocentric theory, to conclude that the stars must be at least a certain distance away, because no parallax is visible!

lack of parallax is why the earth is probably flat and the stars go around us. Because if light comes from a star quadrillions to sextillions of miles away the probability that it would refract during its journey may as well be 100%... thats why for 2000 years people didn't like the heliocentric model. Ironically there is a lot of science behind the flat earth model. It only requires the belief that we aren't being told the truth. The fact that you need relativity to explain latency between satellites is a serious problem. Note Einsteins quote "If the theory doesn't fit the facts, change the facts". Its just as easy to say "C" is not a constant. Who bothers to measure "C" in a vacuum other than spaces agencies with a vested interest. (because the speed of C depends on the volume and refractive index and is almost never measured in volumes with refractive indices less than "1")

@thefranciswatts I believe he died of a stroke or some related causes. At this time, his theory was not widely known and he would not have been considered a great threat to anyone, so I see his murder as rather unlikely, especially since he also worked in a church.
