My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

i'm looking to put one of those on my bote rover aero which I'm sure is lighter and draws less water than that hobie. if you're getting 4.2mph at 30% draw, that's insane. there does seem to an inflection point around that 50% energy consumption. this is really great performance for 3hp equiv. for where I'm fishing, off the coast of southern california, I'm looking at a 3-4 mile radius from launch. i don't think I'd need to gas it past 40%. with my 55ah battery, 25 mile range is waaaaay more than I'd need. plus, once you get to the kelp beds, you go slow and stay there and maybe manuever around a bit. I'd probably run half that battery on a long day on the water. this is one of the best videos for information on exactly what the motor can do. much thanks!!!

I love the NK-300. I think it's the best kayak motor out there. I think it's the trim, weight, and small adjustments. My NK is on my Oldtown 120 PDL, and i plug my deck. "Kayak USA" ran his NK-300 with that same boat, PA-14 360, And he had his XI3 up. He was hitting 7.2 mph. Definitely think you'll get a little more speed, with some adjustments. Took me a few trips, to figure mine out, plus moving accessories, and gear around. Awesome vid bro! 🛶 🌊 🎣

Excellent video! About time someone broke down the ratio between speed and energy consumption so a person knows at where you start getting diminished returns. Obviously there are variables with different vessels as some will glide through the water and others are tanks. Some units can get over 10MPH and that is really cool but if it drains your battery in 10 minutes then what’s the point.

Hello, with the charge indicator on the controller at 0%, what voltage does the controller indicate?
@garrettwadefishing

The controller reads the voltage of the battery. That voltage would depend the battery. Not all manufacturers will have the exact same full charge but my Dakota Lithium is in the 39 volt range. I’m not sure at what low voltage the motor cuts off at if that’s what your asking. I’ve never ran it all the way down.

Strange question here. I’m a weekend angler. If you weren’t doing tournament fishing to where you have to beat someone to a spot, would you choose a stern mount motor like this or go with spot lock Xi3? Something about having spot lock just keeps me leaning towards buying that. I’m trying to decide.
@garrettwadefishing
@garrettwadefishing Жыл бұрын
Me personally would still go with the stern mount motor. I still like to go fast. If you fish shallow rivers, or in a lot of grass, or like to continually move while fishing (aka beating the bank with moving baits) I would say go stern mount. If you fish slower or spend a lot of time off the bank spot lock would be a good choice. It really all depends on your fishing style. The both have there place

I am not familiar with the bolt pattern of a power pole mount, are the simular? I am sure I will have to build a custom adapter out of some uhmw plastic. Steering would be a push/ pull handle . Or cable steering with seat mounted handle.

If you're not short on time it seems like the sweet spot is between 20% and 30%. That offers the most range with the least amount of battery consumption. That said, if you're only going on a few miles then you may as well just crank it on up.

not bad.. Im thinking of getting a custom motor from china.. kinda built the same as the nk300 but im going to get a 120lb thrust..the custom one vs the nk300 at the same thrust which would be 80lb is that the nk300 is halved in efficancy.. not sure why they would do that, but the efficancy is only 40% compared to the real one or custom one is 90%.. in terms of what that means the custom one could push a 2204lb boat at 6mph but the nk300 is only pushing your kayak which id say is around the 440lb mark or something like that at 6mph at max speed and that is because the efficancy is halved. The 120lb thrust is same as a 5hp, it does use 60ah per hour on 24v but im going with a 24v 200ah battery which should get me 3.5 hours on max though I wouldn't go max because based on the effciancy and the speed it would max go 43mph.. which is way to fast for a kayak rated at 200-250kg load but on low speed which would be 14 hours use it woudl go 10mph..which would be sick.. tho if you drop down to the 100lb thrust it would be around the 9mph for 18 hours use on low
@garrettwadefishing
@garrettwadefishing 9 ай бұрын
I’m not sure where this math is coming from but a 120lb thrust motor will never go 40mph. And as far a efficiency 24 volt motors are not at efficient at 36volt. What kind of kayak are you putting it on.
@texasfivegun
@texasfivegun 8 ай бұрын
@@garrettwadefishingnot only is your math flawed but so is your premise. Kayaks are displacement hulls not cleaning hulls. That is why you reach the point of diminishing returns so quickly. Adding more power even much more power will not increase a kayak speed appreciably. Power consumption will grow exponentially to a very small increase in speed.

Hum? 50 Amp hour 12v battery is 600 watts. (Volts x amps). So you battery can provide 600 watts for one hour. Base on your math, at 50% you were using 464 watts. So divide your 600 watts available by 464 used and thats 1.29 hours or roughly an hour and a half. 1.5 hours at 5 mph is 7.5 miles. No where close to 19.8 (Remember that you must convert amp hours, a measure of charge to watt hours a measure of current) For example 400 watts is about 33.33 Amp hours at 12v..... What did I miss???
