Thank you for showing the inside of my grandpa's old engine. I think he was an engineer for the 765 until he retired from the Nickelplate in 1950. Love the shots and seeing what he did made me so happy.

They run that thing like they are outrunning the devil himself. That's how you run a locomotive! Great job.

I am a female railfan, so I'm with you. I am on the council of the Nickel Plate Road Historical & Technical Society and I am also involved in trying to get a restoration started so you are not the only one!

What restoration are you starting? How is it going?

See my video of the tour when I went there the first time. Yes I was told by one of the guys off the record that he did, or he would dirty up a bit for the open house.

Yeah, well, he's got lots of room up there in Indiana and NW Ohio. That's where they all made their time, NKP, Pennsy, B&O, Erie, NYC. And still do!

furthering on, that is what some of the usuall guys were saying many of the people dont work on the engine on saturdays, sometimes through the week but never the main on the weekend, and that somone who only shows up for pr will smear his face with coal and makeup for the public when they have the open house, sarry that your experiance was bad, but dont give up your dream, and I think slightly old school girls in steampunk style dress are great, anyway I cant make the open house this year :

hey guy's can you please STOP with the music on a steam loco ride or any vid of steam. very annoying and you can't hear all the nuance of the sound of steam. STEAM HOLDS IT'S OWN you do not need music, you do not need MUSIC or a talk over. Just run the film please :) Thank you

was the last scene when the 765 was low on water and they had to stop in a town for water and had the ns help escort them in?
@fortwaynerailroad10 жыл бұрын
No, we were waiting for the clear in Leipsic in the footage. You may be referencing Payne, where we stopped to top off the tank after our water pump at the shop failed.

well I am a guy and I dont like to get that dirty, I dont mind my hands with guns or blackpowder but I dont like to get stuff on my clothes many of them have sentamental value to me and many are so old that they were from an era where they were still halfway american made, now none of the main lables do that, unless they are boots, winterclothes, or specialized like texas jeans, or ranchwear, or even a little bit of the military clothing. atleast the berks are one thing that was made american

Oh I had no idea it was soo buissy in the cab I thought it was here a pullback there a push out on the throttle I had no idea they had to jerk at it like that with their whole body, I thought they just tug it back slow and steady, As for girls running a steamer is boy dominated there are not too many, never met an enginer that was a girl steam or diesle electro, well there were the people in the theme parks but they are not full size nor as dirty as they usually use gas now.

Ah I ran across this again, a shame what happened with you about not being on the road crew last I messaged you ladyberkshire.

Eh I see, it would seem like it, I am kind of pissed that they did not do excursions for the public only railroad employees this year and yet they more milage on her this season then they have in a long time, you think it would be for all people since the steamtown celebrated 40 years anniversery also. no only norfolk southern employees, and friends of the socity. last year though I did not have to see rich I saw mr winneker running the engine, he seems like a nice guy to me.

Seems to be that way with a lot of societies and museums nowadays. It's not supposed to be about politics, it's about a steam engine and it's history and sharing it with others, and that seems to be the message that Kelly gives to the world. At least the "it's about a steam engine and it's history, and sharing it with others," part. I'd love to be a part of a society or museum with an operating steamer, but ITM has me hopeless and with you saying FWRHS isn't worth it, What do you do? Haha.
@manga1212 жыл бұрын
Is that so, 1225 is the one in michigan isn't it the piere marquett, I do hope they get that one going again. and sarry for your bad experiance, I guess you are not the only jaded person though from what some of the other guys tell me they like the engine but certain people they say only come around when its time to run and do not put the work into her all that often.
