Hello, I have read at least 5 different opinions about what the psoas does and does not and how it is tested and treated. But from all of them I can not see how your second test with 90 degrees hip abduction is testing an isolated psoas. If anything this is almost a positional release for the psoas. I can say from personal experience that there is an interaction between adductors and psoas, but I don't see the reasoning behind your testing. Could you please clarify on this? Tank you.

I am amazed by what you have mastered. what would you recommend as a good introductory/foundational book to get to understand this subject?

How did you test the psoas by itself on the second test? Was it because you muscle tested the adductors first on the first test?

Yes. It's called relational testing.

I'm putting doubt in this isolated psoas test. The hip is elevated and it's putting the psoas in a different biomechanical stance in order to achieve its function. I've been to your blog and there's only one article for psoas and it is not mentioning any biomechanical explanations of psoas interactions with the other muscles. I know from experience that to test the psoas your patient needs to be seated not lying in supine. Care to elaborate?

Hi David........................my right adductors are extremely chronically tight........... which refers pain to my knee............. and I am using tourmaline body wraps in both areas in an attempt to normalise both sets of muscles.

Look at the posterior sub system. Your right glute max and left lat could be weak.

Go to my website, read what NKT is all about, and then read my blogs about the science behind it and the one on the psoas.
