On February 6, Paranjape was not allowed to enter his own office because a group of students who are members of the Jawaharlal Nehru Students Union were protesting at the School of Languages. I remember listening to Paranjape at a seminar about 20 years back. He remains the same: enthusiastic, full of energy, scholarly and yet unassuming. Very down to earth. A disarming honesty. He could be Right leaning but the Right would be wrong to appropriate him for itself. His erudition and fierce independence of mind make him beyond reach of the Right.
