1996-97 was literally the end of the Golden Era of Hip Hop (1984-1997). 1998 still had a few bangers like "Moment of Truth" from Gang Starr, "Foundation" from Brand Nubian, "3rd Eye Vision" from Hieroglyphics, "Hello Nasty" from Beastie Boys, "Love Movement" from Tribe, and maybe a few more. By 1999 rap was going downhill fast, and it never really recovered.

Man, this is a dope O.G. track. I'm almost embarrassed to say I hadn't heard of these guys until now. I've gotta give thanks to Grandmaster Flash for playing this on his Saturday night show on Sirius/XM. It's depressing to think of the garbage that gets passed off as "hip-hop" these days and somehow finds success. With the exception of a few old heads still in the game, and even fewer newcomers out there, nobody's making music anymore for the fans of true school hip-hop.
