NLEX Candaba Viaduct Expansion (Third Viaduct) Project - First lifting of Double - T girder

The NLEX Candaba viaduct is being expanded, an additional carriageway is being constructed in the middle of the existing north and southbound viaduct. Today, 02.22.2024 was the first lifting of double - T girder in NLEX Candaba Viaduct Expansion project from Abutment A to P-1. Using the double T girder will make the construction quickly. There were four (4) girders scheduled to be installed today and was able to have the chance to document the initial launching.

I can't wait to see what happens if the third viaduct is complete. As I look at the update on OpenStreetMap, it says that the middle viaduct will be reversible just like reversible lanes depending on the traffic flow. If one side is heavy, then the middle viaduct is open to handle the heavy traffic on one side. If both sides are light, the middle is closed. If both sides are heavy, then split the middle into two ways dividing the lanes in half. Also, speaking of lanes, I think the middle viaduct has to be two lanes since it's even. Does that make sense?

So they will make NLEX 4 lanes from Balagtas to San Jose now and 3 lanes after that (currently 2 lanes)? Or this is just another interim solution (adjustable two way traffic) on that particular segment?

Hmm... If they HAD to expand the Tabang/Balagtas - San Fernando to 4 lanes per direction... The shoulder lane in this bridge might be inverted back to traffic lane... 😅

They're planning to expand the San Fernando to SCTEX Spur road.
