I really enjoy your reviews about the President radios, clear and informative. I like the current line of President radios (I have a Barry II) but the FM white noise sound (on my Barry II that is) is a bit raw or coarse, like it is processed digitally or something.. the old President models have a much smoother FM white noise that is nicer to listen to. I am thinking about buying the Walker 2 but the coarse Barry II FM makes me a bit uncertain.. Since you have both in your collection; comparing the FM noise; is the Walker 2 different or let’s say, nicer to listen to?
@NLKMediaGroup Жыл бұрын
Hi Hans B, thanks for your comment and feedback. The Walker 2 is a much more capable radio vs the Barry 2. Also worth considering the Mc Kinley as that has SSB. Nearly all modern radios are chip based vs the older radios. The Walker 2 is the best choice if your happy to not have SSB and has excellent FM receive. You could also try an external speaker on the Barry 2 as this may help. All the best and thanks for watching.

Thank you very much for this great video ! I discovered your channel and I bought a President Richard for a very good price (very less than Walker II). I’m not HAM user, I just want the CB function. Thank you one more time !

Hi Ivan, thank you for commenting. The Richard is an amazing radio and one of my favorites and you can pick them up for a really good price plus they have a bit more room in the power department when expanded vs the Walker. All the best and thanks for watching

@@NLKMediaGroup I have another question : I have now the President Richard, bought in UE. There are nothing on the mother board. No wire, no jumper. Holes are present on MB, but nothing soldered on. I can simply solder a wire and tabs for jumper ? Thank you very much !
@NLKMediaGroup Жыл бұрын
@@IvanDragunova hi there, it is in reverse for the Richard. You need to solder a wire between two holes marked with a solid white line. Please refer to my Walker 2 video as its the same PCB. Soldering the wire is the export mod on these radios. Please check out the Walker 2 video as i am sure i went through everything in that video.

@@NLKMediaGroup Hi ! I did bridge between the 2 holes with line. After entering the "secret" code, all was ok, I got 10, 11 and 12 meters bands (i’ll make licence but now only 11 meters band is interesting for me). Thank you very much for the tips, I have a nice extended President Richard now !

Very well presented station in your post, thanks for the effort and dedication. I'm not a radio amateur, I'm a driver and I like CB stations, I want to have something of quality mounted on the car. Now I have a President Teddy 2 on my car, but I would like to switch to a Walker 2. For exclusive use in CB, what do you recommend I take between Walker 2 and Richard??
@NLKMediaGroup Жыл бұрын
Hi Alex, the Walker 2 and Richard are basically the same radio. They share the same PCB. The Richard is a HAM radio on 10 meter band out the box and the Walker 2 is CB frequencies out the box. When expanded they are basically the same device although I do find the Richard has slighly more power output comparing the two expanded so there must be some slight differences. If your wanting CB then go for the Walker 2. Hope this helps and thanks for watching

Excellent video throughout. Thank you. Will the same mods work on the Walker III?
@NLKMediaGroup8 ай бұрын
They work on the Walker 2 and I have videos covering that. However, the Walker 3 is an FCC model and they like to remove expansion options on the CB FCC models. I don't have access to the FCC models so cannot test them to see. Thanks for watching, all the best MJ7NLK

What are the movements (Ninja moves) in order ti get into The service menu for president mc kinley? Thanks. Regards.
@NLKMediaGroup8 ай бұрын
The President Mc Kinley doesn't have a service menu as its a more traditional radio inside. Tuned via pots on the board vs an SOC based radio which is done via software. Hope this helps and thanks for watching. MJ7NLK

This is an incredible detailed video. Appreciate the time you took in making this. I am considering on getting the Richard after watching this. Curious, where is the place of manufacture of these radios? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the web.

Can you do a video where you mount an arctic fan with a temperature sensor. Probably a good idea to suck the heat outwards. This will require the the outside case to be modified and mounting the fan over the round cut out.

Hi, does the US versions of this radio or other radios include the power mod cable and jumper?.
@NLKMediaGroup Жыл бұрын
Hi David, I am not 100% sure but believe that the ability to modify them on the US versions has been removed. You might find that the President Richard which shares the same circuit board as the Walker 2 may not as its a HAM radio (10 Meter) and may be expandable to cover 11 Meters (well it can on the EU version). I dont know if the same strict FCC requirements apply to non-CB radios but you do need a HAM license to use the Richard on 10 Meters and technically when expanded its not type approved for use on CB frequencies either. I would like to get my hands on some of the US versions to compare the differences. All the best and thanks for watching.

Have you configured the wire on the Richard like you did on the Walker 2 and if so, did it change the power on it as well?
@NLKMediaGroup2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bondo, the Richard export mod shows soldering the wire only on the white line. It does not show moving it to the other position like the Walker 2. However, the Richard outputs 13W AM and 40W FM regardless of wire location so I suspect its at full output power regardless. The wire would appear to just unlock the extra channels. If you want high power then the Richard is the best option even although they are fundamentally the same radio underneath the hood but there could be some component differences soldered onto the boards allowing the Richard to achieve higher power. All the best and thanks for commenting and watching. 73's from MJ7NLK

Hi Mr BSD, thank you for your comment and welcome to all my viewers in Germany. The Truman is the next radio to be reviewed and I have a Truman, Taylor and Lincoln on the shelf to be videoed. I had COVID about a month ago which kind of messed up the routine and we are currently having a heat wave which is not the ideal conditions to be stuck inside. I hope to have the Truman review out within the next two weeks. Stay tuned for that and thank you for watching :-)

@@NLKMediaGroup Well, firstly I hope you are ok again after that corona-infection. I didnt know about that. Im looking forward to watch the next upcoming President-Videos. Would be nice you could rate the modulation and reception of the transceivers whch you might mention in your conclusions. In my point of view that are important points to decide for or against a cb-radio. However, most of the President radios have a good clear modulation and also a good reception. Have a good time and see you next video soon.

They are still working on the Trump... Too much noise on TX, and completely deaf on RX. Cannot get good SWR on anything more than 4 inches, and verticles are not as good as an inverted dipole. Pointlessly fat bodied chassis, and unattractive colour scheme.
