I remember when i was little hearing older folks talk about how the days seemed to be whizzing on by, even though a day seemed to last forever for us kids. However, now as a senior citizen myself, I can appreciate what it was they were saying. Days have become a blur and I constantly have to remind myself to slow down and smell the flowers, the coffee, that glass of red, the incense, or whatever else that might get me back into the here and now. So much to appreciate when we take the time to listen and really hear, look and really see, touch and really feel. Your music always brings that home in spades. As we get older we surely wish the world would slow down. Here, it is peaceful except for traffic leaving a trail of dust. Well Nancy, we live in a small single road with passing places, and it's a wonder there's never been more than a couple near misses in the 20 years we've been here. Things have changed over the years and timber wagons in and out daily for a couple of years now. They are careful but some of the delivery drivers - and there's a lot more of them now -are on the clock, and I fear the worst. Anyway, our thoughts and dreams, especially of more simple , easier times , of folk long gone and such. We can't go back, and ' everything's changing ' much too fast for me. Always welcome your songs and enjoyed this one too...( the drop off on the end lines immediately reminded me of John Prine ) BTW I uploaded a song a couple of days ago Peaceful Waters Vers 2. Hope you find it. There's an additional verse that Gordon Lightfoot didn't record. Stay safe and well.

I listened a week ago and didn't comment, because writing a thoughtful comment worthy of such a song is sure difficult, haha. In fact, I still can't do it! I really love this song, and especially the way you sang it. "It used to be quiet and nothing moved fast in this town" - this line speaks to me more than I would want to. The little settlement where I live used to be very countryside-like, but in the recent few years it's become full of cars and, honestly, hard to live in anymore. You are not wrong, Tom. It is my protest song. And that "slow down" sign in my video stands out by the road in my front yard. Nothing has slowed down, not the traffic or the world, but it makes me feel a little better to say it out loud.
