In a significant development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has officially canceled the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines for the MBBS 2024 batch, which were published on August 31, 2024. The withdrawal was prompted by public backlash, particularly concerning controversial topics, with the NMC committing to revising the guidelines soon.
As for the National Exit Test (NExT), which is expected to replace NEET-PG, there is still no official confirmation on when it will be implemented. The NExT exam, originally slated for 2028 for the MBBS 2024 batch, remains in discussion, but NMC has yet to provide a final update on its timeline.
