@Peter Piper. I was thinking the same thing. I'm a Mom & my 17yr old listens to him so I checked him out (cause that's what I do) & I was like is he for real? My son was telling me how much he respects him. He seems for real. That makes me happy. Just goes to show you can be a Christian & still have problems. God doesn't promise a trouble free/struggle free life. HE does promise to be with us & walk with us THROUGH our problems. Only thing that kinda bothers me is that Eminem is in his top 5 of favorite artists. Nothing "wholesome" there LOL.
@stayeasy_nyc2 жыл бұрын
I think it's a perfect example of, "don't judge a book by it's cover". You never know what talents people have, what they are capable of; you always have to get to know everyone, if you have a chance to know them. You never know what you can hear from someone that might change the way you think about something or look at something in a way you might never have looked at, before. But yeah, I was very surprised when I first saw what NF looked like, after I heard his music. I don't know what I expected to see, but I was surprised. I'm just grateful that NF is so honest in his music. His music has helped me a lot.
@themarkofl16492 жыл бұрын
@@RainyDayz1991 Good afternoon, Karen. I don't usually comment, but as an 18 year old Christian who used to listen to Eminem all the time, I think I can help you understand where your son is coming from. My parents never understood the beauty that I see in rap (rhyme schemes, flow patterns, pockets, storytelling, metaphors, etc), and maybe your son also enjoys that side of rap. Nevertheless, I have to disagree with your stance on Eminem not having wholesome songs. I agree some of them are just about mocking society or anger towards his mother or ex-wife. However, there are many songs about him talking about his love for his daughter, overcoming addictions and forgiving his mother for the terrible things he had to go through as a child. I recommend just listening to songs such as "Mockingbird", "When I'm gone", "Like toy soldiers", "Headlights", "Not afraid", "Arose", "Castles"... All of these have deep rooting in his own life and show the human side of his alter ego Slim Shady (Marshall Mathers/Eminem). Lastly, I would like to note that, by your way of portraying your feelings about your son's top 5 artists, it seems like you checked it yourself, rather than directly asking him. Please talk to him before judging him over his music taste, as it could strengthen your relationship with him. I wouldn't enjoy my parents talking about my music preferences behind my back and forming a mistaken stereotype of me. On a lighter note, I'm starting to transition to Christian rap, but every now and then I go back and listen to the censored versions of some of Eminem's albums (I'm still a work in progress). Hopefully your son will start to make that transition as well, just don't force it on him. Thank you for sharing, and I hope you and your family are doing well during these difficult times. God bless you!

I think he gets overlooked as an “Eminem clone” and that’s why he’s so underrated. That being said, anyone who will constantly show how vulnerable they are both on and off stage deserves so much respect. He’s hard to interview because he shows people how difficult it is for him to do these things, he’s intense and he’s just so down to Earth. People need to stop looking at him as an Em wannabe and start seeing him as an advocate for mental health and vulnerability. He’s defeating the stigma attached to depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses and I’ll forever support this man for as long as his music supports me

Originally made 10 Dec 2018 Not sure the best way to talk to the man himself, but wanted to give him a thank you. Nathan, Thank you for just being you. I too was abused. Now a soldier over seas I recently just heard of you...sorry, but needless to say I appreciate what you do. A few days ago I was traveling from point A to Point B (can’t say where). A blue care speed past us and rear ended an SUV causing it to roll and crash. The first thing out of the drivers mouth was, “Oh My God”! I saw a little body laying in the middle of the highway. Jumping out of the car I looked to my left to make sure I wasn’t going to get hit myself and I ran and picked up this little body (a little boy couldn’t even have been 6). Carrying him in my arms I ran him to the side of the road. Without gruesome detail I saw things I will never forget. Got the kid breathing I looked up to the sky and thanked the Big G himself and helped the kid stay conscious and keep breathing. After words I was just mad at the world. Angry, no matter how many times people told me I did what I could do and I did the right thing. I’m writing you to tell you. I found you on KZbin. I found a mix of all your songs and hit play. My anger boiled to the surface and I am dealing with it. Found a place to turn big rocks into Little Rock’s. Downloaded a mix of songs off of iTunes and went to work. Listening to your music helped me focus and concentrate to find why I am angry. Thanks for the work out hype Little Brother and keep doing what you’re doing. Your Brother in Christ, Chuk Wilson

Average Joe Lyricism isnt spitting fast or cramming rhyming words in a verse tho, it’s good wordplay, double entendres, clever lyrics, etc. And what about songs like Warm Up? What about songs like Returns or Real that doesn’t have such a strong meaning? Plus, a strong essential of being a great rapper is having great bars. Anyone can rhyme words and spread a message, but what makes you a good lyricist is how you manipulate the lyrics you’re saying

Right? 40 minutes and he actually answered maybe 5-6 questions... his responses are insanely deep and well thought out.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw NF at a concert that had many groups. He wasn’t big then, so lots of the crowd left after a bigger name at the time finished. I was enjoying his rapping along with the drummer. Just the two of them… and the sound wasn’t perfect and my ears aren’t great so I couldn’t understand all he was saying… but then I heard him finishing with a heart wrenching song… and realized he was weeping as he rapped… my eyes were fixed on him… and I began to cry with him. I told my kids to listen, and the kids in the youth group… such pure transparency is so very rare and it was absolutely powerful. I’m so glad he is heard by so many now… they need to hear him! Thanks, Nate. Thanks for sharing your heart. 💗🙏

@t_r_a_y_e98585 жыл бұрын
@@crypticvoid372 I mean obviously it isn't the same guy, it would be kinda hard for NF to write a line about an interviewer on his album, that interviews him after the album drops😂

Honestly its around 3am right now and I been having the roughest year of my life. Still stuck in the same place, not progressing, unable to make music which is the only thing that kept me going because I’m simply broke and paying my bills and can’t afford a mixing engineer. This interview gave me hope, made me inspired which I really haven’t been in a really long time. Thank you, NF. You’re a great artist and person and you’ve had a huge impact on my life.
