"I Wanna Hold Your Hand" was groundbreaking in '64 but in two short years went to "Tomorrow Never Knows" and just one year later recorded "A Day in a Life" and kept progressing their last two years with "I am the Walrus", "Strawberry Fields Forever", "Helter Skelter", "Hey Jude" (just to name a few) and finally the "Abbey Road" album, which by all account is a masterpiece. Mind blowing, will never be duplicated, never. They will always be considered the most innovative, influential and best band to grace this planet. Most musical institutions acknowledge this.

I Want To Hold Your Hand was 1963 actually. It became big in the US in 1964 though. And Strawberry Fields Forever was written and recorded in late 1966. And released as a single in early 1967. It made it on the Magical Mystery Tour album in late 1967.

@@jonnysongs Past 10 to 15 years barely anything has changed. Its really slowed down. 60,s, 70,s, 80,s, 90,s things were drastically changing every 3 to 4 years. From the birth of hard rock after the Beatles to excessive prog rock to glam rock to punk , disco, post punk, new wave, new romantics, birth of hip hop, heavy metal, excessive hair metal, the birth of house music, grunge, drum n bass, etc etc etc even pop music way back changed drastically. now it sounds the same as 10 years ago. If you forgot all pop music of the last 10 years and were given songs from each year you would not be able to distinguish if they were new or old. Beatles did all of that in a few short years and gave some of the greatest songs ever.

The LP virtually everyone overlooks is the UK version of A Hard Day's Night soundtrack. 14 songs. Every single one a pop music gem. Each song is completely self-contained yet connected to the greater whole. Later works were more sophisticated, but AHDN captured Beatlemania perfectly. The success of AHDN is why they were allowed to grow and mature. They got bigger than the entire entertainment industry. It all goes back to that LP. Their BEST LP.

The person who turned down the Beatles was right about one thing. Guitar groups were on the way out, at that time. The early sixties. But in the late sixties and early seventies, guitar group flurished. Just before the Beatles, there were clean cut crooners such as Bobby Vinton and Fabien. After the Beatles, we had Jimi Hendrix, Cream, The Who, and Deep Purple. The Beatles caused this.

haha, i used to be just like you - i respected the beatles, but never really heard them. hmm, well, i'd suggest starting out with some of their earlier stuff, like 'please please me' or 'a hard days night', and then work your way up their discography - it's probably the best way to experience a band. start at the early stuff, then go up to the more newer, until you end with the newest. it gives a good overlook over a band. but, all in all, try 'revolver' or 'rubber soul'. they're my fav albums

I don't fully trust young band members saying they love the Beatles. I often feel these young people just say the Beatles are the greatest because they know they are meant to say that. The thing is the Beatles so profoundly influenced just about everything that came after them, that it is hard to really get why they were so wonderful then by listening to them now. You had to be there at the time to know how different and amazing they were.

They got me started when I was 10. Irony is that it was the very same year they decided to quit. By then I wanted a guitar, so eventually I got a old unplayable goldflaked Framus Hollywood. Eventually I switched to play bass in bands and later on when the first Van Halen album came out, I switched back to guitar. Any of the bands I was never made it further than a few gigs and rehearsal studios in dusty basements but I still play and that album my dad brought out, Help, got me started. By the way my favorite albums are Abbey Road, Rubber Soul and Revolver.
