I would like Nnoitora if he wasn't a sexist asshole and if he didn't attack Grimmjow after ichigo beat him. I mean not letting Ichigo heal is whatever. Nnoitora had a point when he said that you can't go make a ruckus in enemy territory and expect the enemy to not come for you and you can't expect them to let you heal either. But he nearly kills Grimmjow not even because he hates him just cause he can. Then he states he can't stand a woman being stronger than him. not that he minds stronger people existing so long as they aren't women. Honestly makes me wish Unohana or Soi Fon killed him instead of Kenpachi. And his actions kind of contradict his wish. He wants to die in a glorious battle against a stronger opponent yet he doesn't let people heal themselves before fighting them. And at his best Ichigo could have killed him. Notice Ichigo didn't use his mask at all while fighting them. He's a visored. Not a simple soul reaper. If that mask isn't on he isn't at his best. Arrancars and Visoreds are more alike than not. Both can use cero's, both have monstrous reiatsu, both are part hollow and part soul reaper. and both can use ressureccion as shown by Tosen which leads me to believe the reverse is true and if they have asuchi they could potentially use bankai. It is largely suspected that Ichigo is using a ressureccion not a bankai prior to TYBW arc because of it's effects on his physical strength and speed, the hollow like getsugatensho, and the fact that like a ressureccion he is wearing it instead of it simply being summoning something or it simply being a simple change in his sword or it's powers. In other words Ichigo is more like an arrancar than he is a soul reaper so Nnoitora has no reason to believe that ichigo couldn't stand in the same ring as him. Even Haribel stated the fight between Grimmjow and Ichigo felt more like two espada fighting than it felt like an espada and a soul reaper.

@@nnoiboi6248 Nope, it means you're not really familiar with the layers of inferiority complex, which will compel a person to trample those below him to validate themselves. In a way, inferiority complex will display an appearance of superiority in an attempt to conceal the feelings of inferiority.
@nnoiboi6248
@nnoiboi6248 4 жыл бұрын
@@Jay9966 The same can be said about a superiority complex. Nnoitra doesn't feel inferior generally, he just hates feeling it and wants to avoid it, like Grimmjow. Nnoitra dominated everyone with a smile and called himself the strongest (the latter of which is actually more of a superiority complex symptom due to masking insecurity). So, yeah sure. Some aspects are part of an inferiority complex but that's only because those two complexes overlap at many points and won't be filling out a one-sided checklist of symptoms. But if you're gonna bring superiority complex into it, you can't exclude Nnoitra from it because him and Grimmjow both love boasting about themselves and like you said, trampling others. It's not as black and white as saying one is this complex, the other is that complex.

Fun fact: Since Nnoitora is based off of a praying mantis, it makes sense that he hates women. Female mantises eat male mantises since the females are stronger. When they eat the males, they eat head down. Where is Nnoitora's hollow hole? On his head. So it makes sense that he doesn't want to be inferior to females. That also kinda pushes the idea that Nnoitora's one and only loyal follower is a submissive male character. Also idk of Kubo wanted to push this, but i definitely think that there are some romantic feelings there. Tesra cries when Nnoitora gets cut down. Nnoitora seems mad when Kenpachi hurts Tesra. But just that little detail, what he is based off of, makes his character so much more understandable and personal. 😖😖😣

I feel like Nnoitra not giving pity to enemies is a low key show of respect and mercy by him given he finds pity so demeaning. Also, I think he aimed over the moon cause he felt disgusted of all the other hollows and Hueco Mundo itself and wanted to keep himself over it, far where he would be away from what was so disgusting... But in the end he found again that despair when he lost to kenpachi and found himself back among the "filth". I also like to think of the moon shattering in the sketches as a depiction of this dream shattering and his comeback to reality that there is no moon he can surpass to be above the filth as he thought he had done when he beat Nel. He was just like everyone else, feeling terrible despair; although I think in the end he did feel accomplished by being killed by kenpachi. Oh boy what I rant by me.

Nnoitra is hands down my favourite espada and one of my favourite characters of all time. Even though he gets such little time in the spotlight, for me his story has the most impact and complexity. He's not just an evil hollow that likes to go around killing people, he is the embodiment of despair. We can see that in the way he lives and tries to find meaning in a world that is so empty and, well, hollow. And I don't think he was sexist in that way, he didn't care that it was a "woman" that was higher ranked than him (he never had a problem with Halibell that we saw), it was the fact that it was Nel who was higher ranked than him, someone that he had chosed to despise. I wonder if perhaps, in a really twisted way, they had feelings for each other, but as hollows who live in such a world with so much emptiness they simply didn't know how to express it or what those feelings even meant, similar to how Ulquiorra handles his feelings for Orihime. It really is amazing how Kubo was able to create such a unique and complex character in such a short amount of time.

What I hated about Nnoitora was how absolutely hateable he was made to be... Throughout all the episodes, you're just waiting for the moment he finally dies... Then, his backstory is explained, like Renji's way before and Soundscape to Ardor starts to play... And when he finally dies, at that moment, is when I stopped hating him. That moment was incredibly emotional and sad. Goddamnit, Nnoitora, why did you have to die the moment I wanted you to live? (It's beautiful, though.)

Tbh, i kinda felt for him. Feelings of inferiority can't be overcome with simple insults. Also, what could she expect? Looking down on him was supposed to make him feel sorry for what he's done? In actuality, Nel deepened the wounds of Nnoitra and, also, made me sympathize with him despite his actions. Words can be more damaging than physical wounds to a one's being, and we could clearly see that made Nnoitra worse. We all try to point at how the bad guy is and what he should deserve, but there is much more to it.

@Kamui yes, he didn't learn humility, considering his circumstances I don't think he could've. being ridiculed and looked down upon by who he sorta admires can't ever make him learn humility, right? At first I thought Nnoitra was just an anorexic blend of Grimmjow and Kenpachi. And just when I was cheering for his death, he says these lines. "Everyone dumps their pity on me. They have no idea how much it hurts me. Its like stomping on an open wound. There'll be no mercy from me. I dont care if they're strong... or weak... or a baby... or an animal... I'll kill everyone and everyone in one hit. So they'll never stand up again" And as he fell, my heart shattered. That being said, it's amazing how in such a few lines, Nnoitra could undergo such a character development. He doesn't fight like Kenpachi, who just craves the blood lust and joy of battle. And he doesn't fight like Grimmjow who wants to assert his dominance and fights on pure animalistic instinct. Well, he does in a away, but it stems much deeper than that. Nnoitra clearly has a deep self-loathing and disgust for himself. He's obviously been looked down on his whole life, and maybe even as a human. His desire to fight stems from an urge to stop the pity and condescension thrown his way and prove them all wrong. And he probably feels deep down inside that no matter what, people will always pity him (the reason is unknown) But why? Why would anybody pity an Espada? And the quinta at that? My guess is that it's not so much others who pity him, but himself. Something happened to him that scarred him for life and made people look down on him. And even as an espada, he can still hear the echoes of their voices. Or perhaps he just has a really bads inferiority complex. Either way, he can't seem to see past this weakness of his, and channels his frustration into a vendetta against others, or anybody who has all the strength and prowess he posseses, minus the self-loathing. This may fill him with jealousy or bitterness which is then directed into a hostile aggression towards them that maybe he can't even explain (since all of this is subconscious) So that's why he hides behind the claim that fighting isn't logical and that he doesn't need a reason to fight.. because he either doesn't understand his jealousy, or is too ashamed to admit that he's acting on it. As a result, his mind is filled with inner turmoil which causes him to lash out at everything and everyone in a desperate attempt to make this whirl of negative feelings stop. But it never does. And at the end of the day, he can still feel the pain and emptiness and shame. Therefore, with this in mind, it is no surprise that Nnoitra's aspect of death is despair. I got this comment from a beautiful piece of art work of Nnoitra's death as a little Nel runs to catch his falling body on Deviantart. The commenter is 'Fangirljunkie' you can find them on Deviantart. Either way this perfectly sums up how I fell about Nnoitra myself. Although from the very beginning I always knew there was something more to his character than a sexist, narcissist who only cares out dominating others and I was right. I've never been one to hate a character of who they are at first. I love characters like that because we get so see the development of they're character going forward, and when I read this comment I had the same thoughts as what they had. Nnoitra well forever and always will be one of my favorite characters in anime and second favorite Espada.

It's true! Sure there are plenty of anime/manga with a huge cast of characters but there are few that actually handle them as well as Bleach does. The character designs and stories are unique and it's quite easy to recognise each character. I find that with shows like Naruto, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Black Clover etc the extended cast of characters seem to blend together and it becomes difficult to know who half of them are let alone care. I never found this with Bleach and I've watched it almost 10 times and every single time I pick up something new about each character. Kubo really doesn't get enough credit for his character design.

I always liked Nnoitra. He was a surprisingly fleshed out Espada with one of the most interesting designs in the series, and had a really fitting outlook on life for what his design is based on, a praying mantis. His outlook and lifestyle made me feel a little sorry for him honestly (ironic I guess, considering he hates pity), it always came off like he was trying way too hard to hide the fact that he was drowning in his own despair. Perhaps that's what Neliel was trying to hammer into him, but she was too little too late. Though given how similar Nnoitra and Grimmjow are, maybe she still has a chance.

Thank you for shedding light on this aspect of death / espada ... the other aspect of death who is a woman and was number 3 is Nel ... im not sure exactly but I've heard she represents sorrow ....Which I always felt I could see in her eyes when she would look upon her world or Noitorra. A quiet somber look .. A sadness coupled with wisdom ... Sorrow another aspect of death not entirety evil . But So very humane ironically... not sadness or upset but Sorrow... which can only be felt due to an immense loss *, an immense loss can only occur if one immensely loves ..and loses that love. Sorrow comes from love, without love there can be no sorrow* if you lose what you claim to love and you feel sad upset angry or whatever it implies your love was not sincere or not great because you are not suffering in sorrow... just my thoughts. I would love to know or see your perspective on Nel ... mainly because the aspect of Sorrow holds so much and you always seem to uncover truths in things / what you choose to analyze ... Nnoitra is my favourite espada!!! He is a very fascinating character because out of all the espadas he had the most interactions with his peers and the most fights. Seriously Chad, Grimmjow, Ichigo, Nelliel in flashbacks and in present and Kenpachi! This guy was a fighting machine! I used to hate his design but after multiple views i realize that he has my 3rd favourite design in bleach especially after his resurection(best release imo). His reletionship with Nelliel was very complicated and a highlight in Huenco mundo arc and his fight with Kenpachi is to this day on my favourites of all time in anime and manga. Also i found it funny that Nnoitra scared Nelliel and Grimmjow and are 2 of the 3 espadas to survive the war, form a team in the quincy war and they both have close relationship with Ichigo( the female loves him and the male want to fight/kill him😅) its also interesting that Nelliel who was so against Nnoitra bloodthirstiness somehow ended up with the second most fight obsessed Arrancar that is Grimmjow. She knows how to choose them i guess😏. Anyway back on topic the death of Nnoitra somehow managed to make me feel sorry for this asshole and that is the level of depth that Kubo managed to give him and is a tastament for Kubo as a writer for creating one of the most interesting piece of shits in anime and somehow make him one of the best fascinating antagonist on his series. Just.... respect. I love your analysis as always! You truly get bleach and its characters. Congrats for another awesome video. One of my favorite underrated scenes with Nnoitra was the part where he reveals to Ichigo and Orihime that Nel was actually a former Espada. This poor little girl who doesn't remember her life as Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck is desperately pleading to Ichigo to believe her, and that she wasn't lying. It was a very emotional scene in the series and I felt it truly highlights the old relationship he and Nelliel had before now. A very bitter one where he's always belittled due to being weaker, and seeing this opportunity to emotionally break the woman he always hated, Nnoitra takes it.

I as a female loved Nnoitra, he is honestly my favorite bleach character. Yes he talked crap about women but if you look into his psychy you can see it is all due to his inferiority complex. He hates himself but he is constantly at battle with himself to be strong and reach higher than the moon. And he does have a good reason to hate Nel, she pointed out how weak and beastly he is going as far as to say he isn't a warrior, that is pretty insulting and only adds more to his dispair and self hatred. I just want to say I love this character and the more people look deeper into him the more people will like and relate to this man driven by despair.

I remember reading a translation of 5:17 that said "Hurry up and split me in two" instead of "thats how I wanna go out" Nnoitora is one of my favorite characters and I honestly believe he's the most "messed up in the head" among the espada. If you think about how warped and simple minded Nnoitora is, just remind yourself that he has a hole in his head. A hole so large would literally remove a large chunk of his brain. This is an odd tangent, but look up "Texas bell tower shooter". This is a man who went from loving family hank hill type, to angry hateful sniper who kills random people because a tumor was growing inside of his brain, and it literally changed how he thought and felt. If you apply the same brain warping circumstances, you could arrive at the conclusion that Nnoitora is mentally and emotionally crippled, so his instinct and thirst for battle controls his personality.

Despite his strong ideology, I would also like to point out how I couldn't help but notice there were at least 3 instances that he contradicts himself. 1. He said he won't show mercy to any of his opponents whether they were weak or strong, he would kill them in one blow, yet he let Chad live for the reason that he "won't get anywhere by killing a hundred weaklings" and also having at least 3 chances where he could have killed Neliel, but didn't finish her off either as much as he hated her. 2. He wants to become the strongest, but he also wants to die. If he were truly to become the strongest, no one else would have the ability to defeat him and he couldn't die unless by some miracle someone even stronger than him appears. But then, we see he that he would always pick a fight with Neliel and ask her to finish him off when she defeats him, meaning if Neliel actually agreed to end the fight, he would have died then and there, his ambition cut short. 3. He believes women shouldn't be above men in battle and yet he would ask Neliel to kill him after their fight, and from his conversation with Tesra, this happened at least more than once. If he were truly against the idea of being defeated by a woman, I think he would feel humiliated to be killed by one instead of constantly provoking her to give her reasons to fight him. I don't think Nnoitra actually hates Neliel because she's a woman but because she looks down on him and because she believes there needs to be a reason to fight when for Nnoitra the fight was reason itself. Hurting her fraccion was something that Nnoitra hoped would give her a reason to fight him. It's also worthy noting how in the early flashbacks Neliel actually tried to understand what his deal was and further on, it seems she gave up on that and looked down on him instead which just worsened his inferiority complex and suicidal tendencies. The goal of becoming the strongest was maybe the only thing keeping him sane. Ambitious but suicidal, that's a very fascinating combination

*Theory:* Neliel, Espada #3, was actually trying to help Nnoitra, trying to save him from his despair. Considering that Nel didn't treat any other Espada that way, it can be assumed that she found a certain interest in Nnoitra, be it as a student, or a potential partner.

Nnoitra embodies his aspect of death perfectly. He tortured Ichigo and Orihime, cut down Nel, Pesche and Dondochakka and essentially toyed with Chad. However, he is filled with despair himself. Like it was said, Nnoitra suffers from an inferiority complex and his despair stems from the thought of being treated as weak and pitiable. That’s why he charged at Kenpachi after already being defeated. Rather than being pitifully and shamefully spared, Nnoitra wanted to die honorably, defeated in battle as an equal. Just as a side, Nnoitra’s death is my favorite, such a chilling and satisfying visual.

Great video. i'd like to point out two things: 1. Nnoitra's big circle collar is most likely a reference to the leaf mantis which has an extended, leaf-like thorax used for camouflage. 2. The skeleton in the sketches grows eight arms because the second kanji in the name Kenpachi means eight.

Coincidentally Ichigo can also be seen to represent the Moon or Crescent Moon with Getsugas, the one's capable of Splitting Storms of Sadness so the Moonlight can shine through. Ichigo can also be seen as reaching the Moon pas Heaven but he did it without the same Bloodlust as Nnoitra. Embracing instinct but not being ruled by it. I really liked how you, I don't want to say "broke character" but your own personal hatred and disdain for him shone through and I enjoy the personal remarks. It felt particularly strong here. If you feel strongly of something that much it means the author did a good job on the character. Props to Kubo as usual. He's also good at writing female characters which can't be said for all. Nel represents everything Nnoitra could be in terms of strength but he cannot reach it and he knows it, and Nel knows it and I absolutely love it. She uses it to perhaps force a change in him that ultimately fails. Was it that he was never capable of change or that he kept rejecting it's path out of strict defiance to what he deems as "weak" since it is a female who he would have to model after? Though he ruined what I perceived as a heartwarming moment of Ichigo not looking down on Grimmjow, Nnoitra himself probably got the greatest mercy possible dying to Kenpachi of all people who in the end, mirrors Ichigo seeing them as an equal as he declares it a "Good Fight" or some variation using Nnoitora's name. Not pitying him, not looking down on him metaphorically, (but literally) but seeing him as an equal and probably was one of the only people who could have. As if an act of fateful mercy, he meets eyes with the person he that is the object of both his hatred and desire to an extent just as he dies before this happens. I see it as ambiguous if he died in his aspect of death or not.

Very good video. I really like Hueco Mundo characters because it's very similar to our reality. We are a mass of nobodies that devour each other and try to survive and rise above the ground. And our world is empty and soulless so we try to find a goal or something to do in order to not die from boredom. And every Hueco Mundo character deals with these problems and dilemmas differently, relative to their own point of view and their personality.

I think my guy mistook Noitora’s intent. He has feelings of superiority not inferiority. The man considered no one his equal and said the difference between them is experience. He is a true warrior who wished for death in battle to a even superior opponent. He was in a sense a reflection of Kempachi. And regarding his hate towards Nell, I think every man would be embarrassed for being whooped by a woman and the woman even puts salt on his wounds with insults. What are you supposed to do if not hate her.

Good analysis a guy witha more aweosme dub voice then sub voice (my thougths, it does not have to be someone elses) he was a guy witha complex yet easy to understnd persoanlity. he truly was a beast. But when he fced of agaisnt Kenpachi it was revelead that Kenpachi was a diffrent beast. Kenpachi was drawn by battle, loved he battle, feared losing the thrill of battle and di not even midn teh scar from battle Noitora was diffrent, he chased the battel but he feared teh scar fo battel because that represtend humiliation of lsoing, he sought battle both for dying in it and for simply killing in it, he loved the battle only cause he wanted to be strong, he feared losing the thrill of battle because that means he was not storng. And he did not want a scar cause that implied he survived and was pitied. his inner monolouge in his final clash with Kenapchi jsut futher showed that for all hsi tought talkm Nnoitora never truly understood the true Dangerosu Beast that was Blood Knight. Nel words to him may have been Reason you suck speeches and showed she considered herself better then him, but it was also the words that he never truly understood that a guy that wanted to Die in Battle, also feared being spared and losing a battle. a Misogynistic and Complex character with a desire of survival just as much as a seeker of ultimate thrill in death. A Praying Mantis indeed.

I love the irony going on in his battle with Kenpachi. Nnoitra is unable to comprehend why Kenpachi is still smiling and enjoying the battle despite all the wounds he's inflicted, further fueling his inferiority complex and his desire to be the strongest, so he starts trying harder to strike him down. But Kenpachi is only having so much fun because Nnoitra IS strong and is actually giving him a rough time. Kenpachi is acknowledging Nnoitra's worth and strength in the only way he can, and Nnoitra doesn't get it.

I never found him deplorable, but as I was biased toward Grimmjow among Espadas when reading the manga, I never paid real attention to Nnoitra (except for the fact that I LOVE SO MUCH THE DESIGN OF THE CHARACTER AND HIS RESURRECTION, MAN, HE'S SO COOL), not until I recently re-watched some chapters of the anime where Nnoitra appears, and I paid more attention to him. I was fascinated by the character who is actually one of the deepest characters in my opinion! I do not know if Nnoitra was precisely frustrated by a woman being stronger or if it was just a very particular case with Nell (because even if he was rude with Halibel, he never acted the same way as he did with Nell), who, in a way, felt "pity" for him, something that he hates so much, I understand that horrible feeling of someone taking pity on you, and even if Nell somehow cared about Nnoitra, she just was like touching the wound, the way she acted and the things she told him, were words and actions that hurt Nnoitra a lot, and increased the hatred, not only toward Nell but towards himself, and a person who makes you hate yourself more than you already do becomes your biggest frustration. Nnoitra is an amazing character, I like him a lot, maybe because I more or less understand his feelings, and really, his resurrection is just my favorite!!!! And thanks for the video, I didn't know about the origin of the name of his resurrection! I was thinking about Santa Teresa de Jesus, literally XD and I was like, oh, but why Santa Teresa? and it's actually santateresa, the insect (? lol
