Thank you for posting this video. I found your video after trying to find online information about cleaning our filter correctly. I feel confident to be able to clean mine correctly now. Also thank you for advising the timing of when to change the filter internal part, i'd not given any conscious thought to it being the only thing to protect the working of the internal system of the AC, but it makes sense now that you've said it.

Thanks so much for posting this!! To date I'd only been cleaning our filter with a brush and vacuum cleaner, but I could instantly see how using the detergent and hose cleaned it thoroughly. The performance of our system has since gone through the roof, the house is literally heating up in minutes rather than hours. The unit in the roof is almost silent now, it used to be really noisy and shook about a bit. Just hope we haven't done any damage to it in the time we've had it. Thanks again

Oh wow!!! I didn't realise the screen filter came out! 😂🤦🏻♀️ Cleaned it how you showed and my air con instantly said it was 1 degrees cooler within 5 minutes. I cannot believe I didn't realise this sooner. Thank you so much. Especially as it's 38 degrees tomorrow! 🙏🏻👌🏻

Thank you so much for this very useful video. You showed me exactly what I needed to know, and now each time my air con tells me to clean the filter I watch this video just to refresh myself on what to do. I know it might seem straightforward to some people but for those of us who didn't know, you've taught us a valuable skill! And no doubt saved us thousands of $$$$ on air conditioning repairs! Cheers! 😊

Thanks for the helpful video, mate 👍 and what spray solution cleaner should we use? Any one you recommend from Bunnings?
@FullyAirconditioned3 жыл бұрын
Bunnings do have an air conditioning cleaning / filter cleaning trigger spray bottle, but just dishwashing liquid works well.
@julierafter6521 Жыл бұрын
I wet it with the hose, sprayed some Strike Pro Multipurpose Spray from Woolworths, stepped on it like he did and washed it down thoroughly with the hose and wow so clean so quick! Held it long ways and shook the water off and quick towel dry and done! 5 minutes.

I have just pulled my filter out. Should the filter still be in a cardboard case ..? 🤔 The filter is wavy in appearance.

@FullyAirconditioned Жыл бұрын
@@leannestickland5509 measure the filter size, possibly take a photo with the tap measure next to it so the size can be seen, email a few companies about filters. Maybe go back to the people who installed it. A few companies replace your washable filter with this disposable one, this is so you get the back each year to services the unit, but all they do is change the filter and hit you up for $300.00 service.

Can all filters be washed? I’m renting and worried that I might ruin the filter if I wash it.
@FullyAirconditioned2 жыл бұрын
Unless the filter is made from paper/ cardboard it should be able to be washed, call your land lord and let them know the filter media is worn out and needs replacing.

This looks pretty straight forward. I am going to give it a whirl. Another little trick is when vaccing the house, just flip the head off the vacuum cleaner, point the hose upwards, and vacc the filter down.

What do you use as the solution to wash the filter?
@FullyAirconditioned2 жыл бұрын
Dishwashing liquid will be fine, it’s a mild degrease with present smell.

Any idea how to get out the grill/cover when it won’t pop out? It seems to be on an invisible hinge
@FullyAirconditioned3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Some centre grills don't come out, they are one pice, the hinge is fixed, so you will have to unscrew the whole grill and frame to take it out and clean it.
@grahamnicholson15532 жыл бұрын
Did you forget to turn the unit off first? A dirty filter when the AC is running will hold itself in the roof from the differential pressure. Great video.
@bernadettekerin64022 жыл бұрын
No the A/C is definitely off. I got advice from an installer to lather it in spray with a towel behind it once it is open and hanging. Doesn’t really do the job though.
@sonys51032 жыл бұрын
Not using vacuum cleaner??
@stefanboborci33672 жыл бұрын
Vac first. Then remove from frame. Then take outside and use hose and detergent for a better clean. Don't use a high pressure stream of water, ( It will damage the filter media) use low pressure water stream where possible.
@gunberriesgame76803 жыл бұрын
thanks for this. mine is warning to clean the filter
@FullyAirconditioned3 жыл бұрын
The warning is only a timed thing, the unit dose not know if it’s dirty or clean. It’s just a reminder you can reset it.

most filters have a direction of air flow
@FullyAirconditioned2 жыл бұрын
Yep some do, depending on the filter media and type of filter, but with this type of filter, it’s usually the coarse side of the fabric meets the incoming air. 👍🏻

how long do let it dry and will this work for the Mitsubishi MVZ?
@FullyAirconditioned2 жыл бұрын
You can put it back in wet, it will dry very quickly with the ac running. This type of filter is common to many brand air conditioning units.

You could've used a brush

A brush just cleans off the surface, doesn’t get the dirt trapped deep in the filter.

So much nonsense in this video. Filters are in passageways usually, not over stoves. They don't get "greasy". And the dust can be washed into drains. And you should blast water through from the non-dusty side first, not straight into the dust, forcing it into the filter. And standing on the filter, and using chemicals, is more likely to damage it so that it "starts to disintegrate." Pah!
@FullyAirconditioned2 жыл бұрын
You sound like a filter expert, maybe you should make a video.
