Let the debate begin! California is #1 IN HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL. 12 teams in the top 50 compared to Texas 6, Out of the 10 games of the week, 5 were in California, California plays 4 times the amount of out of state teams than Texas. California plays the top teams. California has 5 teams in the top 25 this week compared to Texas 4. California has the top 2 Teams. California has the best High School Conference Trinity League. California takes on all comers. California top teams play each other (No dodging Allowed), Unlike Texas where top teams rarely play each other. Top teams are rarely challenged until the playoffs, 5th round. Also compare the schedules ( the hardest schedules usually 4 are in California compared to zero in Texas. At this point it's just cognitive dissonance for people to say Texas is the best. All the information and indicators say California is number 1 in High School Football.

Same applies for public schools yet that depends on how strong the boosters are from the local Community. In N. California it’s Jesuit,Grant,and Folsom. Yet I don’t see them anywhere near to MD and SJB in competition.

The thing is that as long as your in the top 10 to top 5 teams in the nation is what matters. Being #1 is very hard to accomplish and tough to remain consistently yr. after yr. That being said as long as Mater Dei can do that they’ll be school just as De La Salle did. Public schools as well depending on the program and strong boosters. I used to live in Sacramento and the top private school is Jesuit. They used to be terrible in football until early 90’s. That’s bc It more boys enrolled after Christian Bros. went coed. B4 then it was C. Brothers and Cordova at team that dominated the 70’s decade 80’s into ‘91. Cordova fell of after Mather AFB closed down. That meant a lot of kids were from military parents. The top Public School now is Folsom with Grant maintaining in the area as well similar to LB Poly. W/MD and SJ Bosco remain at the top neck will stay until another rises up to claim for the top.
