What's your favorite tactical flashlight for everyday carry? ThruNite's is a great option and waaaaay more powerful than mine... with a few minor drawbacks I go over in the video. Would love to hear YOUR favorite! Leave a comment and lemme know! :-)

Thanks for an awesome and honest review. I am definitely going to check it out. Quick question.... do you know of a good Tactical Flashlight with similar features that is a Pen size? I know that's a bit much to ask but I carry an Everest bag and it has 2 Pen holders on it so something of that size would be ideal for me. Thanks

I am a big fan of 18650 batteries, firefly mode and red lights. My favorites for everyday use are head band with red LEDs. This is in contention for an EDC/camping light.

ThruNite Company is in Shenzhen China, so a big question mark for me is after-sale support - existing web site doesn't exactly improve my confidence level. At over $65 per unit, it's also too expensive for me. Just checked their website using Jeff's link and these units are out of stock. My EDC is a 300 lumen, single AA battery, single function tail cap switch unit with a shallow strike bezel that looks exactly like what Jeff shows as his previous EDC unit. At current price of $2.67 each, I not only carry one via belt clip, but have the exact same units tucked away in glove boxes, on night stands, and in various other locations about the house. Never any confusion about which button does what. So far as the red lens, my bug out bag has headlamps with red lamps for night vision preservation/anti-detection concerns. I also keep in my med kit Dollar store LED headlamps with single lithium button cell battery that offers lower lumen hands-free use. Finally, I have various other non-EDC flashlights with high lumen/larger battery capacities kept in other kits for specialized uses. Most of my prep bags also have the tiny low lumen button light installed as a zipper pull, and to let me see what's in the bag if all else has gone sideways. I do like that the strike bezel unscrews for TSA inspection, but think I'll personally stick with what I'm using - thanks for the review Jeff - always good to see available options.

Hey WL, like you said a few videos again, a lot of people are doing their clothing all wrong for their get home bag/bug out senarios and when to be tactical and when not too. Can you do video on clothing please? We all need it so that'd be great!

I like the idea of using a tac light and I do carry one in a dedicated pocket on my photographer's vest. I wear a vest everyday and it is the way I carry most of my EDC. With the many pockets available I can carry quite a lot of "small gear" such as a fire making kit, trauma kit or IFAK, and other small items. I have flown once with all my EDC and only had to remove my knife and firearms when traveling. As for your question on how to carry that light I would suggest using an inside jacket or vest pocket

It does use the great 18650 battery. If you have extras you can switch them out and keep in action longer. I looked the specifics up on their site.

Nicely done man!!! I’ve been using the BSS V3 for years and just picked up the V4. I love the V3 because of some small features and you can get to strobe a lot easier. But being able to put 2500+ lumens on somebody gets the job done too. Blackscout did make a flute pouch which I have the V1 and V2 of those but I believe Jack doesn’t sale them anymore. The great thing about the flute pouch you can run it vertical and horizontal. I wear my horizontal because it’s out the way and easy to use. The flute pouch is also a lot more durable than the one Thrunite gives you. I wear the strike bezel as a ring anytime I need to take off for no problems. Definitely recommend the BSS V4 to anyone and Blackscout always makes gear/products you can bet your life on.👍🍻🥃👊🏼🇺🇸

Flashlights and tactical pens, most accepted EDC. Not afraid to pull them out anywhere, (I don't fly!).

One thing you forgot: This light takes a standard 18650 lithium rechargeable, so you can have immediate backup power with you. // That's a very nice light, but the $65 price is kinda stiff.

Yeah, the light is definitely priced higher than I'm used to. But you get what you pay for, right? I need to change this mindset myself. For the tools I rely on most (firearm, knife, machete, bugout bag, etc.), I've learned that it's way better to invest heavily in these items for the quality. The only problem with the flashlights is that - like my sunglasses - I lose them pretty easily when worn on my belt. Losing a $65 flashlight is soooo not cool! :-)

I keep a mirror on the back of my smart phone to defend against someone shining a light on me.

Currently … My favorite for carry is the Olight S1Mini Baton. It’s extremely versatile and I use it strictly for lighting. I’ve never felt the need to carry a light I’d have to grab for defense. Besides, all these ‘tactical’ lights weren’t available or needed for all the decades I’ve been around. :)

I just want a small (1,000 lumens?) tactical flashlite that has ONE instant on strobe with FULL power without F'ing with any other buttons. Kind of "point and shoot". Can anyone recommend something? Thanks so much.

Try to carry clipped to side pant pocket ... clip to the inside

Do you actually need a spare mag? Wear a shirt that allows you to clip it around the chest area for super fast deployment.

I like your emails, but is this flashlight made in China ,? or the USA.
